Question about ordering a 6th gen (for those who ordered 2010 5th gen)

Hey guys,

So like a lot of you, I am planning on upgrading to the 2016 6th gen as soon as they become available. I most likely will get the SS and will choose options based on what is offered.

So here is my question, mainly aimed at those who have pre-ordered a 2010 5th gen or any 5th gen for that matter.

1) When pre-ordering, this is done at the dealership or on chevy.com?
2) What is the cost of pre-ordering?
3) Is a pre-order going to be MSRP price or is it going to be marked up?
4) How soon before the release would pre-ordering start, would you think?
5) For those looking to finance, do you do financing paperwork upon pre-ordering or once picking up?

Thank you in advance!

1) Dealer.
2) Hopefully none, maybe a deposit, depends on the dealer.
3) Should be MSRP unless your dealer sucks. If they do mark ups find another one. Don't support this BS just to get a 6th gen early.
4) Depends on a lot of factors.
5) No idea.

Financing is done when you're picking up the car.

------------
1. Dealership
2. Nothing. (unless you order a bizarre combo then the dealer may ask for a check of $500 to $1000.. it will be applied towards your purchase but should you cancel the dealer will keep the money)
3. That is negotiated at time of order. I used Edmunds.com to find the dealers around me and I contacted their internet sales, and because of that I was able to get under dealer invoice on my car and I had the final price before any rebates in writing before I committed to my order.
4. SPECULATION: Late July - early August, though I would wait to see one in person before ordering.
5. Finance is upon delivery. Though you can shop for financing elsewhere before delivery to ensure you get the best rate. You do not need to finance through the dealership

Good luck!

Remember too, just because you order the car doesn't mean you are required to buy it. If the car shows up with the wrong options, damaged, or you decide you can't afford it, you can walk away. Take your time at pick up to test drive the car and look it over end to end.

Which is exactly why you don't want to make a deposit to order.

I don't think you will lose your deposit. At least in IL I believe they are required by law to give it back to you in full. Best to check with the dealer first either way.

Very good point. Thank you for making me aware of that.

I am a dealer.... I have 8 people on a list now to pre-order... no one still has any idea of when, what or any other info.

1. Get on a list
2. Wait for your allocation
3. Sit down and build
4. Wait
5. Wait
6. Sign and Drive

We do not mark up any inventory except for HellCat's in our Dodge store... all c7's and Z06's are MSRP only

I Pre-Ordered my 1LE when they first started taking orders before production:

1. Dealership
2. No additional fee, just a deposit
3. Should be MSRP unless you're at a crummy dealer.
4. 1LE pre-orders started about 1.5 months before production, no idea on a new model.
5. Financing is done when you pick the car up.

Hope this helps!

With dealers marking up the hellcat I sure hope and believe it will turn into dodges next viper headache.

Best bet talk to dealers in your area. I know mine if I called they would let me know As soon as they could get one. Each dealer may be slightly different on how they handle it.

You have to make a deposit that goes towards your vehicle but is also fully refundable

I got a bill of sale. I ordered mine first day they were available for order in Canada which was October 16th 2008

Man the wait took forever but could not have been more worth it

Make sure you choose a reputable dealer
