The Focus RS is going to have a modified Mustang 2.3L turbo 4 with greater than 315 HP. I can't imagine that that engine won't make it to the Stang.

Bet it's just the tune you can buy through ford right now for the ecoboost.

Also doesn't the new CTS-V replace the LF3 with LT4?

CTS Vsport vs CTS-V.

Vsport = LF3.
V-series = LT4.

Its the same exact 2.3 that's in the mustang, just with a hotter tune.

The ATS-V has the LF4, not the LF3. It has different internals and different turbos which also have some unique and exotic components. The engine line up for the 6th gen will be interesting. At a glance, you would think just three motors; V6 and two V8's. However, given the success of the Ford Ecoboost you wonder if GM will offer another engine in the new Camaro. We might just be surprised here.

Hopefully, GM will rethink the Z/28 motor.

What level of confirmation has been tied to this? Or is this speculation? They did say early on there would not be a 4 cyl Camaro. Not arguing, just wondering if there was a confirmed change in rationale.

I think you are referring to the Al O. interview. He never said no 4 cylinder. That was just interpreted that way by a lot of interwebz warriors and repeated over and over.

Also, if I were simply speculating, I'd say it was speculation.

"The 2.3-liter engine has been substantially altered from the version that powers the Mustang, with a new low-inertia twin-scroll turbocharger and a bigger intercooler, along with a revised cylinder head and stronger cast-iron cylinder liners. Ford promises a “free-revving top end”—that doesn’t sound like the Mustang EcoBoost to us—with a maximum rev limit of 6800 rpm. Taken together, that has us thinking that the finished car could produce more than 325 horsepower—possibly quite a bit more."
