What did you learn to drive a stick in?
Not sure if this thread has been done before. I searched and couldn't find anything. For those of you that can drive a manual transmission, what kind of car did you first learn in?
For me, it was a 1992 Miata.

1968 VW Karman Ghia when I was in 8th grade... Mom took the family to Palm Desert to visit friends. The car was in the way and I said "I'll move it" joking around and she said ok! I figured out how to back it up and moved it then when I came back beeming like a cat that just ate a mouse she said "there are dirt roads behind the house, just don't come back without the car"! Drivers Ed a few years later was not much of a challenge

1953 Chevrolet pickup on the back roads of Iowa. At that time, it was only 10 years old.

This is a good thread... don't think I've seen this subject yet.
When I got my permit... all of our family cars were sticks. I learned on a 1964 Chevy 3/4 ton pickup, a 1980 Subaru Station wagon and a 1985 Subaru Station wagon. I think the pick-up was the first I've ever driven though. When I was really little... I used to sit B!t(h and shift for my dad when he pushed in the clutch.

My dad's '91 Cavalier. Ninety-five horsepower of 2.2L pushrod fury, no tach, no A/C and both windows couldn't be rolled down. Really fun to drive when it got hot. Still beat taking the bus to school by a longshot, though.
I was taught by my younger sister, who now, ironically, refuses to drive anything with a manual, while I, at the time who hated the idea of a manual transmission (hell, I hated driving in general at the time!), won't drive anything but manuals now...
