AFE Momentum intake

Does anybody have the AFE Momentum intake? If so any Dyno numbers?

Never trust the dyno from the company that makes a product. It'll always read high, lol!! I personally wouldn't buy aFe only because i think RF and CAI are better. aFe had issues with the Hellcats...namely they lost power. A bunch of people did a group buy and had them dynoed to discover they lost power. So aFe refunded all the money and ended up having to revise the product. After reading that story i kinda wrote them off.

Similar thing happened on the C7 Z06 platform, the "stock cal" was running way too lean when they put it on. I'd bet money they're tuning these when they're putting them on the dyno so when they go out on the street, the lean condition isn't seen.

Similarly, I'd bet this dyno is on a tuned car too because as you can see by our SuperFlow carbon intakes as well as Rotofabs, the stock intake isn't a restriction below a certain RPM, so the fact they have a gain all the way across the RPM band is a tell tale sign they removed some of the low end nannies and tuned it for marketing... tisk tisk

I have the Pro 5R (link below) and am very pleased with the fitiment and design. SOP dyno says their is a slight improvement but then again the computer hasn't really had time to adjust for the change. Let me get a 150 mile on it and I'll report back my thoughts. Sorry no dyno, not worth the cost to prove a point.

I don't know about all of that. Seems like a lot of that may be far fetched. Some day I'd love to buy HP tuners and just start figuring all of this stuff out myself so I can stop trying to sift through information from a thousand different sources...

Interesting. I'd be curious on a third party to do a dyno test on it.

I called AFE and asked about this. They said they Dyno them with no tune, as tuning cars in California is illegal. So he said the Dyno is legit.

So you called the company that makes it and expect an honest answer? I'm not saying they aren't honest, I really don't know, but this approach is not exactly a sensible one.

Yes in fact I do. We take RotoFab and other manucturers on this site at their word, right? Do you question RotoFab numbers and honesty?

The guy at AFE said they used to do Dyno plots with tuning, but haven't done that in years. So because I wasn't there, I have to take a man's word as truth, especially when you explain your speculation it might have been tuned. And they deny it was. So until a third party does independent testing, we have nothing left to go by.

It's one of the best fitting and best looking intakes. So it's not the company is a bunch of bush league guys. They make good products (besides intakes).

I had one on my SS, and when it was tuned the tuner said the MAF transfer function was almost perfect (same as stock). He was a Rotofab dealer and said it was as good as the RotoFab as far as correctly reporting air mass. Both almost identical to stock.

I don't see why it wouldn't make power if the RotoFab does on this platform.

I think someone needs to get the AFE, and do a before and after dyno
