Are you happy with the acceleration of the Gen 6 V6? The Gen5 V6 was unacceptably slow when I test drove it, but the SS has more capability than I can use anywhere except the drag strip. |

I never owned a gen 5 but I can tell you they're two completely different cars, not even similar. The gen 5 was on the Holden developed Zeta platform from 2006 used in the Pontiac G8.
The Gen 6 is a brand new platform developed by GM Detroit in 2015 and used in the current Cadillac ATS and CTS. Structural rigidity, suspension engineering, fit and finish are all light years ahead of the 5th gen. |

OMG YES! I really enjoyed my 5th Gen 2SS, but there’s no comparison to my 6th Gen 2SS. The ONLY downside for me is that the trunk is a bit less useful. Back seat doesn’t matter to me at all, but is smaller. 6th Gen drives better and feels faster/lighter in every way. NPP exhaust sounds and MRC ride set this car head and shoulders above the previous generation.

2 weeks in I can tell you, mostly positive.
The ride seams 'tighter' and that could be because I came from a 5 yr old convertible. Very nice! Since I was a die hard Gen 5er with the style. The 6th gen has warmed up in my eyes, even seams cooler. (The Hyper Blue is amazing!) My 22 yr old son loves this Camaro style, wild blue with black 20s) Interior size wise, as others have said is limited. The console under the lift-able armrest is a joke. Mine has a flat cubbie where the phone charger is in others. It takes some getting used to. Doable. I'm glad I made the switch. |

My dad has a 2010 2SS Pace Car amd a 2013 Hot Wheels edition. Having spent alot of time driving both of those the 6th gen is worlds ahead. Not even really in the same stratosphere. I was looking for a 5th gen 1LE when I happened to test drive a 2017 SS 1LE. Well bye bye 5th gen search......Its worth it.

Yea I drove a 2010 2SS/RS and just loved it! It was a great platform to mod the hell out of and I had a blast with it for 5 years! However, along came the 6 th gen and it took a couple years for me to finally afford a used ‘16 2SS and I have to say this thing blows my 5th gen out of the water! Lighter feel, handles better, in my opinion looks better, much better tech and interior, lighter clutch feel, and overall more of a pleasure to drive! I couldn’t be happier!

They are ENTIRELY two different cars... ENTIRELY...no comparison whatsoever except they share pretty close to the same motor. The 2015 5th Gen V6 felt bulky and although it had like 300+ HP, its massive weight really bogged it down especially under highway speeds. It was still decently quick but I was never really able to call it a Camaro.. it was just a bulky tank that carried the Camaro Badge. The 2016 + V6 on the other hand... oh my goodness what a difference its unbelievable. Its like they did away with all the bad things on the 5th Gen V6 and kept the formidable powertrain, and the A8 transmission, and finally...displacement on demand... The 5th Gen V6 is slightly slower than a 1993 - 1997 LT1 4th Gen F-Body The 6th Gen V6 is possibly on par with the NON-freak LS1 4th Gen F-Body cars...and I own a 4th Gen Z28... There was still a difference but my V6 definitely felt like it could compete with my LS1. Now, it's not going to throw you in the back seat like a SS will, and it isn't going to give you the music and instant torque a V8 makes, but it does pack a mean punch for what it is and is still a very capable car by todays standards. Test drive a 6th Gen V6 for yourself and see. It will be a night and day difference from a 5th Gen V6. |

Since you are coming from a standard 5th gen SS I would say the CA6 SS is a big handling upgrade. CA6 SS = 5th gen 1LE = 5th Gen ZL1 in every way as far as handling goes. Although the CA6 does feel smaller and more tossable. It feels more like a sports car. Also interestingly a 5th gen bolton 1LE = stock 5th gen M6 ZL1 = stock CA6 M6 SS in the 1/4 mile. I have raced all three and all ran 12.3s at Atco. Going bolton CA6 is very expensive and here LTs will only give you 15 HP and a CAI 5 HP or less. Installing LTs on the 5th gen is a piece of cake. On the CA6 SS installing LTs is a PIA and you have to cut the exhaust unless you go full catback. LTs + CB can run you $3K. A good plan here is to get a ported stock manifold, E85, and tires and you can be well into the 11s for cheap with a SS M6 and even deeper with the A8. And your car looks stock. A ported TB will help a little if you plan to go bigger later. If you do drag race understand Chevy built in a launching bog in the M6 V8s that will limit your 60's. SS A8s are not limited so they are allowed to twist the driveshaft bolts off. LOL. All out bolton A8 SSes run in the 10s and embarrass my stock A10 ZL1 in the 1/4. Also know that for some reason CA6 Camaros depreciate rapidly. So I would go for a lightly used 2SS. You will save thousands $$. If the Carfax is clean you have a 99% chance of a reliable car as most modern Camaros are. All the years are the same, so a 2016 is the best deal. I recently sold my loaded 2016 2SS M6 12K miles privately for a little over $29K ($46K LIst). Use that price as a guide. You for sure want to get the 2SS with side warning stuff. You can't see out of the CA6 Camaro any better than the 5th gen. It has saved my butt in both of my CA6 Camaros. As for looks, while the CA6 is a very good looking car and has better overall proportions, but the 5th Gen looks and interior are something special. I always get a little rush when I see one. But I'd rather be driving the CA6. I would say take a CA6 out for a long spin and decide. But if you buy, shop around and take your time. A word of notice, stay away from Red Hot if you don't want a lot of attention from girls. You don't always have the time to give them a ride.

Considering the jump myself, i wouldn't mind a hyper blue 2SS between 650-700hp. Im also thinking about doing what makes me really happy and doing a 700-800 Stingray build. IDK i really like the 6th gen mostly but dont love it. MY buddy says skip it and go Vette. so does my heart. my brain says wait until you have a house for that.
