If you go by current technology and materials available those old Gen 3 and 4 cars without having to meet current emissions and safety standards, not to mention meet current customer expectations were FAT PIGS and should weigh much closer to 3,000 pounds. LOL

OK if this is the 6Gen I'm sold! This is exactly what should be produced a highly evolved design off the 5Gen. Just beautiful!

It's a nice shape but not a real workable design for the real world.

Smaller than ATS? No. Bigger than CTS? No. Same size as CTS? Why?
That leaves TWO... |

This is a way out there guess, but only reason I could see it being on CTS alpha is maybe that the CTS alpha already has enough of the chassis stiffening/heavier duty components that might be needed to handle the V-8 powertrain???

Do we know for certain, though, that the ATS couldn't handle a V8? When you come down to it, how much heavier is, say, an LS3 compared to the LFX V6? 40 or 50 lbs? Not a huge amount of weight. |

You've got to allow for more torque/horsepower, not just weight. Also, different tires and wheels.

If the ATS can handle the TTV6, as its getting, it can handle the LT1.

Only reason I would suspect that they might put it on a larger wheelbase is because it will help offset their CAFE. To my understanding, a larger wheelbase helps the car avoid the need to hit certain FE goals.
The ATS (Alpha) can handle a V8 in ATS size.
