First Mod: Front Rock Guards Installed

Just finished installing ZL1 Addons front rock guards for the 6th gen Camaro on my ZL1.

The guards are a made of very high quality plastic. Fit and finish is excellent. Install was very easy. My only knock is you can see the 3M VHB tape at certain viewing angles. They're definitely going to block a lot of rocks thrown up by the front tires.

those should definitely help. interesting I had their 5th gen guards on my '14 and those were held in place with Z-clips that were mostly hidden. looks like now its 3M tape.

Where did you buy these? Do you have a link you can share or did you get them from the dealer?

The Showstopper rock guards I had on my '13 ZL1 also used Z-clips. The tape and z-clips both have trade-offs. The clips dig into the paint and can eventually cause the area to rust. The tape is visible from certain angles. In the long run I think I'll prefer the downside of the tape.

They look good, factory should do this anyway. Will tape hold those at 150+mph though?

Get a small artist paint brush, and some rust oleum flat black paint, and paint the edge of the tape if it bothers you. I've done it on a few cars

Didn't need them on the 5th gen, clear bra works great!

You can buy black, white or gray 3m vhb tape.

That stuff will definitely hold, that stuff is amazing.

I used the 5th gen ZL1 front mud guards on my 5th gen SS when I changed wheels, and I also preferred the tape since the clips would just rip into the plastic and remove paint.

I'm not sure if the 6th gen has as much room as the 5th gen, but I was able to take the 3M, cut it in half, then run it tightly along the fender liner and entirely hid it. And it will hold during spirited driving in my experience.

That first time you hear a rock SMACK off that plastic, and know it didn't hit your fender, it justifies its entire purchase.
