Painted door handles

Any clue on how to take the chrome door handles off to be painted ? I don't have any chrome on the car and they annoy me. Do I have to take the whole door panel off or can I do it just from the inside ?

I'm not sure how they come off exactly, but I'm pretty sure the door panel does have to come off. Once you take it off I'm sure you will see how the handles come off. This is a project for me as well.

It would probably be easier if you took off the door panel. Its not that bad only a couple of bolts and screws. hardest part is disconnecting the wiring from all the switches.

Actually you don't need to pull the door panel off. It's one screw in the door jam behind a round plastic cover. Just pull the handle open as you loosen the screw, after a few turns you can let go and the handle will not close back. Keep turning the screw until you can pull out the lock cylinder and then the handle itself. I will find a video to show you.

Once you have the door panel off the handles are melt welded on the back... you can tape them off in the door and paint. That's what I'm doing this weekend among other things.

That's for the outside, those aren't chrome. He's talking about the inside.

Got mine taped off, waiting for tomorrow to get them painted. I'm plasti-dipping mine, and may flat clear them as well.
