Will 3.91 gears on L99 hurt me if I get cammed?

Hey guys,

So I'm looking at getting 3.91 gears for my next mod and I'm wondering if in the future I go with say a GPI SS1 cam will I have any drivability issues?

Car is a 2010 L99 with mods in sig.

Why not just go with 3.73 gears instead if you are worried about launching hard (or your first couple of shift points)?

Or have you found a great deal on some 3.91's that's making it hard to pass up.

GPI SS1 is also what i'm looking at. I have the 3.91s right now and I love them.

418 strocker with much bigger cam, 3600 stall and 391's are perfect for my daily driver.

Reason for going with 3.91's is because they are cheaper and generally everyone who has them loves them!

You'll be fine. These L99s love the 3.91s.

I really like having the 3.91's in my L99 car. Will be doing a GPI cam, heads, converter and rod-mod intake after the holidays.

Who is everyone getting their 3.91's from, or who has pretty good pricing?

Not being a smarta** either.

Everyone has them pretty much the same price, the real question is... who is installing these things for people?

Surprisingly, quite a few folks around here went through the dealer to have it done.

How is everyone doing with traction? I fear that I'll be spinning all the time.

Because it retains your warranty on an LS3.

On the street they work well....the whole traction thing is over blown. Of course traction comes into play when getting on it. Where I find the little less traction problem is worth the kick in the ass the 391s give the l99. Cut a 1.9 60 at the track on street tires with some practice.
