Clutch Operation

When everybody here with a 6 speed manual when you are shifting from first to second gear like if you were doing a 1/4 mile run do you keep your foot on the clutch pedal not pushing down or completely off??

Are you still touching the pedal after you shift or remove completely.

At the drag strip I feather the clutch at the launch - release it slowly enough to keep RPMs up but fast enough to move off the starting line quickly. It takes a lot of practice and I'm not nearly consistent enough yet. Also, the intrusive automated controls (nannies) take over and slow the launch sometimes. For shifts to 2nd, 3rd, and 4th; clutch goes more than 3/4 of the way to the floor (completely disengaged) - shift - then up all the way before WOT again. Between shifts I let my foot hover above the clutch but don't touch it at all. If you're using No-Lift-Shift (NLS) you can keep the throttle all the way to the floor between shifts. My first several track days I used competitive modes where NLS was available. I now go full manual, turning all the nannies off (no NLS available), so I have to work the clutch and throttle for every shift. You can watch my technique in this helmet-mounted GoPro video of pass 1 of 8 in the YouTube playlist from my last track visit. You'll see it better full-screen. The playlist contains PDR and GoPro footage from every pass, good and bad. Expand the "Description" below the video to see my notes for each pass.

I've never seen that before. Very interesting... provides some insight into why I might see intrusive intervention even with all the nannies turned off. Thanks for sharing it.

Found it!!!!!!!!!

I have found the issue with my ZL1.
After we were able to duplicate the issue as far as cutting out at 5100 rpm we then sent all the data to GM and the came back with that we needed to replace the air filter first and recheck. They did not have a updated a or new one in stock so they called and asked me to pick it up and they would call me when it was in.
I picked up my car and for someone that does this for a living I was not satisfied that this could possibly be a air filter problem so I woke up on Saturday morning and let the testing begin.
I had a K&N air filter that I ordered and installed and test drove the car.
Nope same result so I reinstalled the factory air filter secured the last part of the fins that we not glued together and nope same results.
So not really wanting to give up on trying things without voiding any warranties I just went for a normal drive and while doing so an error message came up and to me to release manual clutch pedal and i thought that was strange.I thought what is the chance that I am putting my foot on the clutch pedal causing the computer to shut it down.So I went over to where I could drive this car to duplicate it and after 10 hard wot attempts it never cut out once so I continued to drive on Sunday and never did it again.
I messaged 17ZL1Camaro to call me and I explained what I had found out and had him retest his car the same way.
So sorry for the long read but I think it is much better to explain how we got to this point.
My dealer would have never found this.
Sometimes in my world you have to spend a little more time and different things to find out what really is going on.
So yes nothing is wrong with this car it just has a fail safe clutch switch to save the life of the clutch and engine from over revving and to keep the engine and transmission running at the same rpm.Normal
We need to just keep our foot off the clutch pedal at all times!!!
Don't even touch it at all..

Something else you guys might want to note is that clutch pedal input is a pre-stage for the active rev matching programming. the CPPS is very sensitive for that reason as well. Once the clutch is engaged and the shift starts to move to a downshift, the rev match initiates. This might be the issue of a high sensitivity to clutch pedal pressure. Not to mention the powertrain warranty "management"....
