What brand of headers do you have and why do you say shortys are a waste of time?

trent, you get more HP from lt's... there are many people on here that will tell you to stick to AMERICAN RACING OR KOOKS OR whatever... you can look at TEXAS SPEED, JBA, stainless power.. there alot cheaper and very good....Keep in mind once you go with headers you have to tune the car for maximum power

Indeed.
Ive got LTs on mine and even without a cam, its a very noticeable difference. Not to mention that i still drive mine 100 miles each way once a week or so with the wife to go out on our date. Mileage improved as well.

Pretty much any LT will get you around 30hp. Shorties give some but unless you are trying to avoid tuning they are a waste. Especially when it's so easy to install LT's. Cams are great but the cost and involvement to install are much higher.

Below are images so you can see the difference. Long Tubes are much better for HP and TQ if you plan on upgrading your cam and heads down the road.

If your willing to cam up then your willing to tune. Long tubes come in first due to more air that the engine will be pumping in and out. I use kooks but Texas speed also has a nice set out too. The lt and cam will all be up to you and your goals and more importantly $$$!!
A good tune by a reputable Lsx tuner using hp tuners or EFI live.
But either way do it once and do it right or pay twice. Just my .2 bud

yup headers first! we carry every brand out there and would love to help you get into the set that fits your budget. Also when it comes to cam packages we hold all the az records for cam only cars and our cam's not only dyno high but run fantastic numbers at the track! if you would like to talk over the phone, pm, or email in depth please feel free to do so 480-359-5914
