But for a while in between those two it was global cooling, then that didn't stick so it became the latter...it was just a joke BTW! lol.

I'm still on the fence so frustrating.

I've always had manuals lately but the a8 performance is hard to ignore.

I won't stay stock for long... So I was wondering.... Do you guys think maybe an aftermarket tune etc could improve the shift response in manual mode? That would be great...

Did someone really just bring up global warming and try to make it sound fake.... Lol wtf does that have to do with this. You just spouted nonsense like a fact even worse than the reviewer.

It's definitely a software issue if it truly exists, so I would think a tuner could help with that.

I'm on the fence too, but leaning towards manual.
I'm wondering if response depends on what mode the car is in?

The response they are complaining about is with the paddle shifters, so I would say no. However, I think their may be differences in how different drivers use the paddles, just as in the case of a manual.

I know it's about the paddle shifting...so is the complaint only paddle shifting when in manual mode or paddle shifting when in normal auto mode?

Again, does the mode the car is in, track vs sport vs tour affect the programming in anyway that is related to response times while shifting via paddle shifters. I think it's plausible, I just don't know.

Do other cars/transmissions with paddle shifters have a delay? If not, why does the camaro/vette have a delay?

Yes, the 5th Gen 6L50 and 6L80 do and in my opinion it is more pronounced than the 8L90 in my Vette.

Good question. I'm not that familiar with the 8L90 programming. Maybe Jedi can tell us about it. I know my BMW has two manual modes, one the computer will take over if you don't accelerate in a sec or two, the other is full manual mode.

As far as driving modes, it should affect the shift feel and shift points for sure.

There are similar reports for the ZF unit in the 3 series, but I never notice any delay unless I short shift while reducing throttle. Almost like the car is like "WTF I thought you were in a hurry". I may try to get some video to show what I am talking about and how fast it shifts under power. Downshifting seems to have some delay, but I think it is because it is "rev-matching" for lack of a better term.

Sorry, but anyone who proudly, and loudly proclaims their love for Jaguar- one of the most notoriously UNreliable brands currently in existence, has piss poor judgement in the 1st place. Their pretentious, British opinion means less to me than thePill's.

I don't know about "more objective" as they are definitely strongly anti-US pro-Euro and it isn't like the reverse is true here.

In fact, American reviewers are even pro-Euro anti-USA cars for the most part.
