New tires soon, but cashflow tight

Hey folks,

I'll be in need of new tires in the next few thousand miles and my income is going to be tight for quite some time.

This implies that I probably won't be able to afford a full set of runflats and may need to go with non-runflats. What are the better-but-not-300+-per-tire ... tires out there?

For note, it's a stock 2017 1SS.

I too would like tire opinions. I'm going to go with non-runflats as well, much cheaper and I've never had much of a problem with getting flats. It looks like $200-$230 for decent tires seem to be the norm. I don't track nor mind road noise. So whatever is affordable but also grips well and will last, works for me.

TireRack.com is one of many discount tire web sites that show you a variety of tire options in multiple price ranges along with reviews and ratings. You can search by brand, tire type, and price range. That would be a good place to start your search to find a set of tires that meet your needs.

I have Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 in stock sizes on my 2016 1SS and love them. Mounted balanced and drove out the door for less than $700.

If you have a Discount Tire near you, go there in person. The online "configurators" can't tell you about the "other" tires that fit our cars. You can go a smidge wider with a 255 in front or a 285 in the back, which opens up a few different tire brands. (You cold potentially even go down a size if you really want to... but I'm not recommending it).

But I still like my Indy 500's which I got from a Firestone store.

Check the Wheels/Tires section of Members Classifieds. A lot of folks sell the stock tires fairly cheap with low mileage.

LOVE TireRack.com. I've always ordered tires from them, they have great rebates & super fast shipping. Can't go wrong with them.

There's plenty of choices in stock sizes for 6th gen SS. Depends on what you use the car for. If it's a daily driver, and want longevity there are plenty of high mileage all-season performance tires that don't break the bank.

Mine came without runflats- it has Nitto's on it with Adventus wheels. i had to have the dealer order the Camaro air compressor, since it was deleted with the run flats that the car was supposed to have. i won't go back to run flats. I also recommend the the Firehawks- a co-worker just bought a set for his BMW 135I and he loves them.

I just got Michelin Sport 4s I just put 200 miles on them. Total cost OTD 1,400.00 at discount plus a 70 rebate. These are not run flats and they rock. They are so much quieter than the run flat Goodyear's, and in order to take care if I get a flat I bought a can of fix a flat. Run flats suck!
