Question about reliability of other Chevys

Hey guys,

My girlfriend is looking for a 4 door car that is reliable. She isn't like me in the sense that she wants a fast sporty car, she mostly wants something that is good value for her money, and reliable.

She is looking at:

1. 2017 Acura TLX
2. 2017 Chevy Impala Premier V6
3. 2017 Lexus IS-250

Also, I tried to talk her into the Cadillac ATS, but she says it's too square...

So basically, my question:

I know that the Camaro is a reliable car, but how does Chevy make their other cars? Is the impala a good car? Is that v6 engine good? Any known issues? I think obviously the Acura is probably the most reliable, but are present day GM cars behind at all? Or on par with Japanese cars

Please let me know

Thank you

Have friends/family with the following-
2014 Malibu turbo
2015 Impala V6
2014 Equinox 4 cyl
2016 Malibu unknown eng.

No real issues that they have mentioned(& they would have).

Have your g/f test drive an ATS before completely writing it off as too square.

I would keep my $$$ in the US instead of most of it going back to a Japanese HQ.

I'm Canadian but I'll look at it exactly the same way GM Ford or Chrysler brother buy domestic

Impala's honestly the best bang for your buck out of those three.

The V6 engine in the Impala is the same basic LFX V6 in the Camaro with a little variation in tune, redline and horsepower. The Impala is a really nice car - a home run from GM in my opinion. It is a large sedan class vehicle.

The Acura TLX and the Lexus IS (the 250 is discontinued in 2017 but there are other IS models) are really in a different class of vehicle. More of a competitor to the Audi A4 or BMW 3 series. Mid size luxury vehicles - ATS or CTS would be closer competitors.

So it's going to come down to what she really wants. In terms of value, agree that the Impala would be the biggest bang for the buck and I think reliability is good. Malibu is another option and of course there's always Camry or Accord.
