Same here.
Have the Escort Max with the BlackVue 2channel dash cam.
I have the Constant wired directly to the thick battery wire running near the center console and I grabbed the acc. power from the BCM. I have the cam running into the PowerMagic Pro for parking mode.

I don't want to run cables to the engine fuse box if I don't have to.

I saw the gen5diy radar detector harness in another thread and thought that was the perfect solution. The harness comes with an optional extra leads for a dash cam.

I'm wondering if I will be drawing too much power from the passenger airbag light by having both my radar and dash cam drawing power from the same source. Has anyone else done this? Should I segregate my power sources so I don't overload anything?
Look at the fuse for the airbag light, subtract the wattage of the light/load and this will give you an approximation of any available amperage for your accessories.

Remember, some of the late mode ECU's have active electrical load managing and if they sense a parasitic load, (after you add an extra amp load to a rated circuit), it possibly can cause all sorts of electrical gremlins/issues.

The calculation to find out the amperage of a circuit is fairly simple. Divide the Power by the voltage it takes to power the unit. The answer is your amperage. Formula: P/E=I or simply add up the amps your radar detector and dash cam use, should be fairly small. But with this said, you definitely do not want to tie into any circuit dealing with your airbag, even if it is just the airbag indicator light and you also want to stay away from the ECU. The BCM on the camaros are extremely easy to get too, located right above the pedals and it is safe to tie into the accessory or ignition power from here just make sure to fuse your wires.

I agree, if I can avoid messing with anything airbag related I would. Are there any guides on tapping into the BCM? I can't find any.

I do not remember the pin locations off the top of my head but I'll be at work tomorrow and get that info posted for you. I'll also supply the actual wire colors and the color of the harness you'll be splicing into.

It's not just the electrical draw that matters when modules are involved. What about the potential for electrical noise and how well could the airbag circuitry/chips cope with that being tied in where nothing was connected in the original design?

-12volts (Constant): located at the blue plug, pin 4. Wire color: Red/Grey (Red wire with Grey stripe.
-Accessory (Switched Power): Located at the green plug, Pin 5. Wire color Purple/Yellow
(Purple with a Yellow stripe)
......
Norm Your right that it's not just current draw that matters when tying into modules but not all modules use load sensing or even MUX signals. The camaro does not when it comes to these SPECIFIC circuits discussed (the Constant and Acc.. Power). Your correct about the airbag circuit thus why I recommended against it.

Did you have a thread on this? Just wondering. Im thinking of doing the same thing. Just scared it may overload or create some issues in the future.
