What effect will the gearing change have on 0-60?

I completely understand why GM would do this but are they trading off performance for fuel economy? Isn't that was the Cruze is for?

that's neat, now the Camaro gets the same MPG as the Mustang with more HP in the V6 trim It's a numbers game. Now if they could just offer factory gear options to increase performance...

but in GM's defense the LS is speed limited to 118MPH already, if a V6 buyer is really concerned about performance they should get a 1LT RS with the summer tires and higher factory speed limit and stickier tires for better 0-60.

Maybe they are trading off 0-60 performance for fuel economy perofmance? GM must figure that the Camaro V6 being slower than the Mustang V6 is not as important to buyers' as fuel economy.

V8 shoppers on the other hand emphasize performance over fuel economy. It's always nice to have both, but one is more important in the buying calculation

yes. the cars are made for different reasons. thats why it makes sense to me. chevy it trying to make a cool looking car that can get good MPG and is more practical.

I'm glad I already have my LS. Decreased performance for only 1 mpg increase in fuel economy isn't worth it. I could get 1 mpg more by adding a CAI!

Being over 30mpg is a huge marketing victory.

Civic and Camaro both get mpg "in the 30's".

Deceiving yes, lie no.

Though I think it's great to have this as an option, I hope it's not the new, CAMARO-based car we've been reading about... I think it's great and some else to consider for those who are looking for fuel efficiency. Great thinking GM

I do wonder if it's possible to add this gear ratio as an option for the LT model as well? I mean why not make it a no-cost option. It may be a selling point for somebody that wants the looks of a Camaro (spoiler, ambient lighting, RS and all) with the best MPG possible.
