SpeedoFail

How many of you pay attention to the analog speedo? I have no problem ignoring it but I just cant see why nobody at Chevy R&D ever noticed this happening to them...

Positions 10 and 2 on the wheel and you can see it fine. Or drive it with your right hand, oh wait you are taking a pic with your right hand I get it.

That is not recommended placement of the hand while driving. If you hit something and the airbag goes off, well you can imagine what happens with that hand and arm! Just sayin...but anyways, yeah I don't pay much attention to the analog speedo with the DIC and HUD being more useful.

Depending on the steering wheel and seat angle, it's still not clearly visible with your hands at 10 and 2. Overall the analog gauge is worthless, because it's location and the thickness of the needle relative to the spacing of the numbers. The needle is 5mph wide.

I think the analog gauge is there for looks more than anything. My complaint with the digital gauge is that other messages pop up and make it so you can't see your speed, i.e. Speed alarm, fuel, cruise control, driving directions, etc...

The screen is large enough to keep the speed up there at all times. I don't know why they didnt design it to do so.

I would be very curious as to where you think the speedo should be.

However, it did take some adjustment for me- the speedo and tach were flipped on gen 4 (Speedo right side, tach left)

there is soo many variables with that, it would be impossible for GM to be able to please everyone. With telescopic steering wheel and seat adjustment you should be able to get a good view, but like you said, the DIC is there anyways so there really is no problem

Amen... One can only wonder.

Darn few cars made (for as long as I can remember) where you wouldn't be looking through the steering wheel to see the speedometer.

Honda uses a two tier gauge system that puts the speedo above the steering wheel. It may work, but it's about as ugly as the cars they build.

I try not to pay to much attention. That way when the officer pulls me over I can be honest when I say I have no idea how fast I was going.
