I'd only buy a GMC Sierra with a Duramax, that's a powerplant!

My Camaro is 426 HP and 420 ft lbs of torque (in theory). Which is more powerful than the Sierra.

Awesome!! These will start showing up in salvage yards in a few years and will be perfect for swaps into older cars. With a truck block, they should easily withstand upgrades..

I agree, that motor would be pretty nasty in a 1st gen Camaro or a Chevelle

And the disconnect between enthusiasts and the general public widens even further...

HP/Torque does not equal speed.

I just asked my 50 year old mother (who knows little to nothing about cars and could not care less about cars) if she thought it was unfair that GM put a more powerful engine into the Sierra than the Camaro and she responded with, "Why not? It's a truck, it's supposed to be powerful so it can tow things. All the Camaro is supposed to do is go fast."

Oh, and this truck...

...has 397 HP and 765 lb ft of torque. How does that make you feel?

I love that truck. I want one. but I'd have to keep an eye on the exhaust gas injection system

The truck will give you fairly ample warning before you'll need to refill the DEF tank.

I asked about this before. The engine in the pick-up is the L92. It makes 3 more HP's and 7 more TQ's than the L99, but it is an iron-block and weighs significantly more.

Wonder how that diesel would fair in a Camaro though, hmmmm............

Pops has the pick of the litter for his replacement work truck. I keep telling him DURAMAX!

He just worries about sticking offroad diesel in the thing and getting into an accident. And no he won't pay for it at the pump, the OR Diesel (pink dye) is free/on the club's budget.

He then proceeds to tell me 'When am I gonna need 700+lb/ft of torque?'

My answer: "Tomorrow when you're plowing those 10+ inches of snow. They stopped making L18s a while back.."

Simple -- Your Camaro has hp to go fast.

Sierra has hp and tq to pull amounts of stuff the Camaro can only DREAM of.
