You guys running corsa exhausts - are they the 3" ZL1 exhausts? I've been looking to modify my '12 ss vert by adding quad tip exhaust + 1LE diffuser. It seems as though the ZL1 is the only option.

You can also buy dual tips and have them welded on, this is what I am doing to my s-type exhaust. LMR is gonna fabricate some j-pipes for me and put the quad tips on.

I would say without the rear braces over time the body is going to flex too much and you may get sagging or worse cracking of the unibody. I would be very wary if removing any of the factory bracing.

But I think you may also need the tunnel brace. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=298145 I'm not sure if that is also for the convertible though.

Just a suggestion, but what you're looking at is a polished rear tunnel brace, which if you don't mind what the factory one looks like, you can just as easily go to the hardware store, buy some 1/2" thick washers and longer bolts and it's the same thing. When I was talking about removing the rear braces, I was referring to the two brace bars that got from the center of the rear and go out to the sides. Those are notched into place and will not clear a 3" axle-back unless you remove them. At least nothing that I know of.

I notice you have 3" exhaust. How did you clear those rear "v" braces in the back?

I took them out and replaced them with an aftermarket undercarriage brace, so the "V" braces is completely gone. And honestly, there is no difference when it comes to handling.

Oh really? Did you have a link to such a brace? I'm going to be the guinea pig and order the 3" Corsa ZL1 exhaust for my vert. Originally, I was planning on welding up new rear braces and spacing the middle ones, but since you have that brace, I might not need to retrofit anything.

The bracing is there because it's a convertible. There is no roof which would add structure to the car. The bracing under the car is purposefully engineering because of this. Modifying the bracing and or removing it, is a horrible idea. But to each their own, it's your car.

I don’t want to remove it or really modify it, I just don’t like the sound of the stock exhaust. Even with LTH... do you or anybody else have recommended brands or systems that fit and sound as well as the Corsa units do? |

I cant answer that. I've never owned a convertible, or dealt with that issue directly. I can only assume there are exhaust's you can purchase that fit. You may get a better answer if you were to make a phone call to Corsa. They can probably tell you more about it, and or make a suggestion to one of their systems. |
