Thanks everyone.. Absolutely loving the Camaro so far.

It's not really fair to compare it to the Mustang as they are too different (in terms of manual/auto and coupe/vert), however the combination of the Auto/Vert is much more suited to my intended purpose for the car which is one of the main reasons I like it better than the Mustang.

The other main reason is that you can have fun with the loud pedal in the Camaro without hitting insane speeds, the combination of longer gearing with the manual and the 8,250 RPM limit of the Mustang means that you are going way too fast by the top of 2nd gear. The higher torque output of the Camaro at much lower RPM also contributes to this sensation.

If I were picking a car for purely track use, I'd probably have kept the Mustang for that, however the Camaro is much better suited to fun cruising and weekend warrior duty.

One thing I will say is that I couldn't be happier that I picked the A10 over the manual.. I'm a total hardcore manual guy but this auto is a masterpiece; It still can't predict the future but it sure is awesome 90% of the time. I feel confident the A10 would actually work very well on a track as well as due to the effectiveness of manual mode and even Performance Shift mode seems like it would work very well during cornering. Manual mode can be quite tiresome in the city, 10 gears is a lot of paddle clicking and not very condusive to switching from cruising to hard acceleration in a split second (clicking down 7 times to get to 3rd from 10th takes too long) and you can't drop from 10th to 3rd directly unless you are in full Auto mode. The good part though is that full Auto mode is actually very good indeed. It doesn't shift down too much unnecessarily, but will drop from 10th to 3rd in a split second if demanded by the loud pedal.

So far I am thoroughly pleased with switching, however bear in mind, I did only buy the Mustang as a stop gap until I could order the Camaro I wanted, I had tried ordering a '17 earlier in the year but got messed around by too many dealers plagued with having to lie about having an allocation. In the end, I'm glad it didn't work out on a '17 and I now have my '18, if it hadn't of been for that delay, I would have surely ordered the manual and I know now I wouldn't have been as happy.

Just as an FYI, you can go to the lowest possible gear by grabbing and holding the downshift paddle. Still probably not quite as quick as stabbing the accelerator in drive, but it’s still a cool and useful feature.

Couple additional observations.. While I only have just over 250 miles on the Camaro, I can already tell that the Mustang Brakes are far superior to those of the Camaro. I feel those miles should be enough to have bedded in the brakes, so they should now be performing.

The other thing is the steering.. The Camaro has a much better steering feel than the Mustang.. One of the things I disliked about the Mustang for the longest time was how light the steering was and that it had a huge dead spot/lack of steering center, feel. The car would wander considerably if you weren't paying attention. The Camaro is much better in this area, much heavier steering and much better center feeling.

I'm right there with ya! I traded my GT350 in on Friday for a ZL1 1LE and haven't looked back... The Shelby is a nice car but the 1LE is a beast of a car. Even the ZL1 is far superior over the Shelby as my moms boyfriend has a ZL1 and that's what started the journey to the dark side for me.

Congrats! Good to know that both are enjoying your new ZL1's. It's very strange that most car magazines give more credit to the Shelby GT350s, but here we see that is the other way around.

They did the same with the Boss 302 when it came out as well. They only jumped on the 1LE bandwagon at the very last minute...

Congrats on the ZL1. I don't know why you bought such a crappy color..... :-)

I traded in a GT350 White OTT with blue stripes also for the HBM. It must be some infection.

Congrats again. You will not miss the GT350

Question for those that traded in their gt350, do you miss the sound of the flat plane crank? Had a buddy who traded his gt350 in for a amg c63 (non s) and he misses the sound of the shelby.
