Concerning this launch issue . . .

there is no "system" (i.e. Torque management, Traction Control, etc) that controls how the clutch is engaged. That is up to the driver.

so if you have Traction Control enabled while attempting an aggressive launch, if the tires start to spin, the only option the "system" has is to cut power... i.e. feels like bog. I drive in "Competitive Mode" to avoid this Bog..... it is up to me if my tires spin or not.

If you have Traction Control off, then you as the driver can adjust engine power vs engaging the clutch (i.e. slipping the clutch) just the "right amount" to achieve maximum acceleration. Trying to achieve this with Traction Control enabled could be very frustrating I would think.

If the Camaro had a "Launch Control" that actually operated the Clutch FOR YOU, then I would blame the car.

If this was 100% a mechanical setup with no electronic control/intervention at all (throttle and ignition especially), I'd agree.

But with electronics involved it's at least theoretically possible to adjust engine power to suit the available traction independently of how the clutch is operated. IOW, doing what you might have done in the past with the throttle assuming it was something other than floor it and side-step the clutch pedal.

And anything mechanical that is controlled at all by computer programming needs the calibration to be correct for the use.

All Launch Control does, is employ an artificial Rev limiter so you are able to build revs and have the throttle mashed. Whatever happens after you dump the clutch is traction control.
