Not detailed. All that is proprietary...but in general, I know there are heating and cooling tests, lubrication, ambient temperature, longevity, G-forces/scavenging, and abuse tests...they put these things through the ringer to make sure that it outlives the warranty they provide, and can withstand an abusive customer.

I know specifically, the LSA in the ZL1 underwent over 260 hours of continuous WOT testing on a dyno, and a 24-hour track test twice...over 600 clutch-dumps at redline, I think that's the number...all without failure.

Hmm still interesting, I wonder how that compares to other companies? They have all these companies claiming to be longer lasting and better than others but you don't always hear about their testing methods and failure rates.

I don't have a problem with learning. I PERSONALLY have learned A TON Since april 2008. You don't learn a lot from posting a lot!

EDIT: back on topic. Don't bash the 2.0T motor until you've driven one. It was the 1st Direct Injection motor GM released in the U.S. market! Way ahead of it's time in 07/08

Plus the tilt dyno GM showed off with the LT1.

They claim a lot...but I hold the opinion that GM's powertrain is the best, by far, in the entire Industry. Their engines are generally more power & fuel efficient, more reliable, cheaper to fix, and much smarter than most other engines on the road.

I don't know other manufacturer's testing procedures...but I would bet money that they make GM's methods look ridiculous and over-complicated by comparison. Which, I personally, consider a good thing in many cases.

+1...LONG before "EcoBoost" was even a concept for Ford.

Oh for sure, I have had very small problems with our Town and Country that I DD now and drive in the winter, granted it gets the hell beat out of it, it's still had a few expensive fixes like bushings (not much you can do there), seized valve spring (I smoked a civic and seized it ), lots of rust, it wasn't waxed much and Wisconsin winters are harsh, but still...

Dodge and Chevy are personally my favorite... too many people's Fords starting on fire and stuff

Good photoshop job on those rear tires....I had a 2003 Monte LS and I know you couldn't get tires that wide under it...

While I'm sure Chevy has a great 4 cylinder engine, why does it need to be put in a pony/muscle car? This stuff is never reciprocal; it's not like they're going to also give us an option to upgrade to an LS3 in the Cruze or anything.

Instead of outrage this should be viewed as a great thing. If the 6th Gen Camaro can have a viable turbo 4cyl option then this will be a much lighter and more nimble vehicle than the 5th Gen. That's better for all levels of performance and fuel efficiency.

Have no fear there will be V8's in future Camaro's. GM may have to make them more premium than they are now but the options will be there.
