Perhaps I missed something here. Is your Camaro an M6? I had terrible throttle lag in my M6 gen 5 and the same shitty throttle lag in my Gen 6 M6 including an occasional "dead spot" in third under heavy acceleration and no, it was not the rev limiter. And I tried to tune that out in both models but was unable to.

Happy to report my A8, as temperamental as it is, has zero throttle lag. Pressing the petal is like touching a nerve. Of course, it is also tuned with the "throttle boost" turned up a bit.

Yes, it is manual

I notice the "dead spot" as well.

Have you found anything that helps with this?

Tony Mamo TB helped mine which had the dreaded 2 second throttle delay at idle....

I tried 3 different Mamo TB’s and could not get rid of it.

This is exactly what Throttle Controllers are for !

Your ECU / Tune is now controlling the Throttle Body opening depending on a set of parameters: RPM / Speed / What Gear you're on....

The Throttle response delay / Lag is an intentional design on this "Drive by Wire" system and the reasons are:
  • Decreasing emissions
  • Safety and drivability.
  • Comfort.
  • Fuel economy.

A Throttle Controller will allow you to choose the best setting for your car to have a more linear acceleration.

The Vitesse Controller allows you also to calibrate your gas pedal for a more precise and lag free acceleration.

I had a Vitesse throttle controller on my cammed 5th gen.. no complaints at all.

However, I was under the assumption a proper tune eliminated the need for a throttle controller

Interesting..

Notice the same thing in my '19 1ss non-1le manual. I notice it more in 2nd gear. Only 5900 miles on it. When I go from 1st to 2nd, any my rpms are low (between 1500 to 2000rpm), I can feel a little bucking, but after 2000 it's free sailing. I knocked it out to be just something this car does because of fuel/throttle management.

Yes, you can alter the Throttle response and improve it by a maximum of 15% increase, the ECU will not allow you to go more than that.

A Throttle Controller doesn't have any limit on how much you can increase the response.

Stock 2SS with an M6.
Been trying to duplicate (or come close to) this 2 second lag for a few days. The only thing I get close to lag is a little hesitation under load in maybe the first minute after cold start. I have had other cars do this so close to cold start. Not unexpected behavior in my book. The engine is probably not even 100 deg when this is happening.

Just read through this whole thread, I'm seeing most of you guys are seeing this issue on the 2016-2019 model year. Anyone experiencing this on a 2020 or 2021? I have not found a dead spot in any gear or throttle lag. When I hit the gas it goes or spins the tires. Are you guys experiencing this with traction control AND ECS both turned off? Or are you driving around with the nannies on and complaing about them not doing their job without messing with your throttle inputs?
