On the C7 M7s it’s only in eco mode. Otherwise it never goes into v4 (my 16 had never seen eco mode). On the A8s, the only way to avoid it is in manual mode, using paddle shifters.

There is a statistical issue with the story that the manuals don't have the lifter failures.
I'd say that there are way more trucks than camaros.
lets say 10 to 1.
Then there are way less manual camaros than automatics. Again another 10 to 1.

Add in the factor that a manual camaro is driven less than an automatic in average... most are 2nd cars.

100 trucks go in for lifter failure.
10 camaros go in at the same time
1 camaro is manual
Since they are being driven less, lets say 0.5

When you speak with the tech, they tell you they only saw 1 manual camaro ever with lifter failures but trucks falll like flies.

Makes sense, but its skewed.

For what it's worth, even the afm cam and lifters, by and large, are more reliable than any .600 + lift aftermarket setup. There is maintenance associated with those, which is fine if you're aware and prepared to deal with it. I'll guarantee you the aftermarket setup is not going to go 150 - 200k miles without attention. The oem parts usually will.
Thanks for actually pointing that out. I don’t think people realize how much of a headache a heads cam car can be.

For the US/Canada, the ratio is ~5000:26600 for M6:A10

Or 1.872697195:10

I only have about 6,000 miles on my car so far so I’m still well inside the factory warranty on everything.

But I’ve still contemplated doing the cam/lifter job anyways. If anything just to get something with more old-school idle lope and real pull-your-brainstem back low torque, like a ‘69 396. Nothing hog wild just something more beefy (and of course to get rid of all VCM hardware even though it’s not active on mine).

I’d also love to get rid of that silly looking black plastic intake with the form extrusion squares all over it and replace it with something much better looking that’s brushed aluminum.
