I have 20/20 vision in one eye and 20/50 in the other but with that said, I see 2 exhaust tips. No way this is a ZL unless like someone else said, they're testing the power train. Still begs the question why there is a lot of extra camo and nicer wheels than we've seen on the recent mules. Photographer should've taken more pics. My say is a no, this is a regular mule. Probably one of the first considering the black tape.

How would they know it had a ZL1 power train when it's parked with nobody in it?

If you look really carefully, these are just the 2016 SS rims in black.

From left to right: 2016 SS, 2015 ZL1, "2017 ZL1".

I guess the question is, if the car has since been revealed why is this one running around all covered up?

If it were up to me, I'd leave it on just to mess with people.

GM probably has different priorities than I do though.

I see what was throwing me off, they are brake reflectors tacked on like this other mule

I once got yelled at by somebody here for calling this a mule on a technicality, but more appropriately, it's like a long-term test vehicle. This car probably has a lot of non standard equipment onboard for diagnostics reporting to be a sort of rolling lab on wheels. It will carry out its duty probably well beyond the 2016 production year. There's no real point in taking the camo off a car that represents something that will never be quite like the production model and may be rough under the skin.

Bottom line, though: This website really grasped pretty hard to claim it's a ZL1. Bad reporting. Very bad.

The title got me to look, only to be disappointed with a bad reporting!

Well it is a prototype not a mule. Mule uses another similar cars structure and body to test early power train and chassis. A prototype is design/production intent which is why it gets camouflage. So what is under the camo IS going to production for the most part.

Like this? Given it was running with gen6 prototypes I'm pretty certain it wasn't testing chassis.
