I just checked my 2013 ZL1 convertible. Look at the back seat. In the middle of the rear seat (from inside the passenger compartment), notice the perforated section. Grab your flashlight, and shine it into the perforated portion and you can see the sub behind the seat. I had top climb inside to shine my flashlight straight into the perforations to be able to see it. You'd have to remove the rear seat back to get to it. Basically, it's between the rear seat back and the trunk. |

If you are listening to low resolution music (MP3) via the USB input then it will sound like crap but that holds true regardless of the price of the system. Sirius/XM doesn't help either as it is a very compressed signal. Try listening to something that has CD quality resolution (or better) and you'll be impressed with the BA system. With that said, I wanted a bit more bass so I found a Boston Acoustics 10" Sub along with a BA Amp and am thrilled with the results. The install was super easy and it looks like it was from the factory. BA no longer makes "aftermarket" car audio products so I got these two pieces for under $100. Killer Deal for sure.

I just checked under my seat and I have the BA system and there is no subwoofer under it, just a sheet of steel. No place in the trunk that is hidden from view and I've torn it apart. I think that is a misprint on the Chevy website about the subwoofer being included (Nothing new there ) Why else would they offer a separate subwoofer option.

Coupe has the "9 speaker system" (no sub, but has two 6x9 speakers in the back)
Convertible has "8 speaker system" (no 6x9's, has a single 10" woofer)

My solution to the underpowered BA system. Sub, box, and 6 channel amp that powers all the stock speakers in the car as well as the sub. Plug and play.

It'd be interesting to check the service manual, but alas I haven't bought a set yet. One of life's great mysteries for now. |

the verts all have subs in them behind the back seat. standard system has 8 inch sub, the BA has a 10 inch sub. the system is barely adequate. I have the bass turned up full notch and it is just ok. I have a 98 Firebird that has the monsoon Pontiac system, and it rides circles around the Camaro BA system.
you ZL1 owners, yes, you get the same stereo as the cheaper 1 LT 2 LT cars too. which if I was paying 60K for that car, I would expect a better stereo in that car above the cheapest 1LT that you can get a BA system in, for a cars price which is half the ZL1 |

^I said it before, that the Monsoon system in the latter 4th gens, with all of its quality quirks, will blast the ba system right out of the ring. To the ba's credit, IMO it has a wider musical range, but the monsoon's power still leaves me wanting more with my zl's system.
Chevy will need to select a system with a power rating at or exceeding the previous Monsoon's system, but with better quality. The BA's quality and system controls are good IMO, but it needs more watts.

I have listened to the system in a 13' SS. I have had the top of the line Bose in a 08' Avalanche and 11' 370Z. They all sucked. The AV surround was good in the 08'....music...not so much. Not that this matters, but myself and my ex business partner set trophy point records in IASCA pro division in the early 90s. My 14' ZL1 sounds very good stock. I can only assume you guys are wanting for more power, or there is something wrong with your system.
