If only. Not likely to ever happen since they don't even make a short bed regular cab now.
I'd drive one for sure. |

No chance current/future GM does anything this cool.

I'd take an older one for sure, I saw somewhere there was one brand new on the dealer showroom floor, may have been a few years ago. A longggg time ago I used to just hop in my Monte Carlo SS and go cruising the countryside, I was in northwest Arkansas and found this chevy dealer that had a 1978 Corvette with the plastic on it and 8 miles on the ODO at that time it was 7 years old, I didn't bother asking if it was for sale! But yeah I guess regular cab trucks are a dying breed!

I've been hoping for something like this for a while. More logical would be a LT1 or an LT4 power plant. Connect it to a 6-speed manual with 4.11 gears and it would be an exciting package but not sure if it would sell enough for GM to make a profit. As Snizzle mentioned way too cool for current management mindset.

Never happen.
Silverado SS would get more attention, and likely sales I'm sure, but the best sport truck option would be in a Colorado or Canyon due to the smaller size. I have said numerous times on here that I'd LOVE it GM would throw the 5.3, or the LT1 (never happen) in the Colorado. I'd sell my Camaro and my current Colorado to get one. That said, a strong TTV6 would also be sweet, and I think that might have a real chance...especially since it is strongly suspected that Ford will put one in it's next gen Ranger Raptor. Problem is...it would probably only come in the ZR2, whereas I'd want it in a different trim. Street trucks are dead. At least Ford makes some sport versions of their SUVs.

GM is now offering the regular cab short box cab again for 2022. Maybe this could happen?

I would love it! However, I'd rather have a Silverado SS in the crew cab style, and it will more than likely come in a slighly modified small block engine configuration. But if one can dream.........
