The electric grid power switch for the back glass should always default to off on a shut off and restart of the engine. Should always require manual activation after start up.

Think about it this way:
Off turns off the fans but it still leaves the venting open. Only way to stop that is to turn on the re-circ. Any vented air is still subject to the temperature control. This isn't unique to the Camaro. |

Your right, been that way a very long time. With the fans off , you still have venting going on, venting is affected by the temperature setting , need to turn the temp down (put it down till it says low) re-circ to out side air and air thru the vents while moving can only be outside air temp. |

I had this problem primarily with my 1LT V6 although not as bad with my 2SS. With the climate control powered off and the temp set to like 75 and it being 30 degrees outside (not exagurating) while running down the interstate, it bLew so hot that I had to crack the window.. It wasn't BLOWING but air was coming through and it was hot air.
Like others have said, using the recirculate button fixes this because it changes the channel of air intake from outside to in the cabin where as outside air is being FORCED into the car while you're moving. As others have stated, it is normal I'm afraid. The power button only turns the FANS off, air however can still be pushed through the heater core from outside into the cabin of the car while you're moving, that inlet is not sealed off only because you turn it off. My 99 Z28 does this as well... so its not a problem..its just how its designed. |

Good to know, but seems like a completely nonsensical design.
To me, "off" means off, and nothing should come through the vents, whether assisted by a fan or not. Pretty weird to be driving around in 30 degree weather with the climate control off and still be roasting in my car. Is this a Chevy/GM thing? This is my first GM car, and I've never had this issue on any previous car. |

I had a similar issue with my 2011. Turning the fan to the off position never turned it completely off. And when on the fan would change speeds. Also, no matter what temperature it was set at when I turned the car off, full heat would come out of the vents at start up. I would have to turn on the A/C, rotate the knob to full heat, wait a few seconds, then rotate it back to full cold. The car did this 6 out of 10 times at start up.
Took it to the dealer a few times. They said they updated the software on the control module the first time which did nothing. Every other time I took the car in, they found nothing wrong. It finally got fixed when I replaced the factory radio. Once I installed the Scosche dash kit, all the issues stopped. I had suggested early on at the dealer that the control face might be the issue, turns out it seems like it was.

I agree... but my car doesn't. Sometime I look over and it's on and I know it was off before and I didn't turn it on. I'll have to inquire next time I'm at the dealer but I'm sure they'll just think I'm crazy.
