Has anyone had a T-Top installed in your Gen5?

I used to have a Trans Am with T-Tops several years back and I loved the T-Tops. I think they make the car look so much cooler and I love driving with the tops out.

Has anyone spent the money to have T-Tops put in? If so do you have any pics? Any problem with wind noise, or leaks? Any major changes to your roof? Are you happy with them?

My Trans Am T-Tops had a leak on the drivers side front left corner, when it was raining and I hit the brakes I would get a little stream of water that would make my left thigh and knee wet. It was more annoying than anything but it was SOOO worth it having the T-Tops.

If you do a search, there is a lot of talk about them looking cool but no one really trying that on here. Seems some places will do it from anywhere between $6500-$10,000. Although I never see any of them address support issues with the chassis. Structural integrity would be compromised in some way I'm sure. As well as getting insurance coverage for that would be a PITA.

If you decide to go for it, keep us posted!

I watched an episode of west coast customs where they made t-tops for the Camaro. They did a good job of it. Also, they did address the issue of structural integrity. Plus, they used the locking mechanism from the 4th gens. So, if the locking mechanism broke all you had to do was go to a dealership rather than having something custom made.

That would be a killer upgrade but not at that price...

I remember that episode, it was the Rascal Flatts Camaro.

Meh, I lived the 70's & 80's once. Does it come with a KC and the Sunshine Band/Miami Vice 8-Track?

I think it looks great. I want a 3rd gen just to have them on a car I own.

On the 2nd as well, but either way, to look good, you would need a mullet. Err..make that a Kentucky waterfall

The T-top came out after convertibles were dropped as a compromise solution. My buddy had a Monte Carlo with them. They were interesting, but no where near as nice as a drop top, and then you needed to be careful putting them in the trunk when they were out. The only advantage they have over a convertible is they are more secure when parked in a sketchy neighborhood.
