Budget question for 800+ hp?

So I've had my car for a few months now. Only real power mods are RF CAI and I also have a Nitrous Outlet kit. The Ultimate goal for my build is 800+ at the tires. I've always been a nitrous guy but think I won't be able to push the power I want on spray alone. Suggestions on what FI setup, (Whipple, Procharger, Maggie), and fueling I would need? Also how much do I need to budget for money wise? Thanks for the info in advance!

I run the 2300 heartbeat. I've done no internal mods, stock exhaust, stock tranny and mine made 670 with 80 mm pulley, AEM meth/water kit with 1000cc nozzle and VP MS109 race fuel and just 11 lbs of boost. I also run the Lingenfelter big bore High pressure fuel pump. This winter I'm doing the LT4 injectors, Lt4 in tank pump and then I can run the 70 mm pulley, that will allow me to run about 16 lbs of boost and should be somewhere in the 740 Rwhp. That should get me in the 9.90's at 140.

Opinions vary...

Better question is what is your budget and intended use. This will heavily dictate the power adder and supporting mods.

Really like to stay below 20k if possible. This is not my daily driver although will be driven mainly on the street. Will buy a drag pack after completion as I would like to make a few 1/8th mile runs at the strip. I really like the heartbeat setup but am curious if anyone has tried the F1 or F1A procharger setup? Thanks for the replies!

My F1A setup is done and currently being tuned by Race Proven Motorsports in DE. They are here on the site, theres a few build threads tho not in this section they started. I believe there are a couple of other F1 based cars here on the site as well. You don't need the F1A for 800whp, you will need internals along with a D1X, cam, fuel and meth. Thats gonna throw you at or over $20 to 23K in my opinion. Depending on the shops labor costs, taxes and parts pricing. Call around and get some quotes thats your best bet bro

What about going a big spray? Anyone sprayed a 200 or 250 shot?

Safely getting to 800 will need blower, pick your poison, cam, lt4 fuel upgrades, at least forged pistons, and meth, possibly can go e85 as well. A 250 shot of nitrous on a stock motor I don’t feel is safe.

The LT1 high compression pistons make it really tough to get to 800. You pretty much need to change the piston. The drop in forged pistons usually don't change the compression ratio and that is a problem if you want to add the kind of boost to make 800 whp. In my opinion you have to start with a forged piston that has less compression. That is not cheap. And 800 is near the limit of the direct injection fuel system upgrades. There really are not many LT1s hitting 800whp because of the reasons I listed above.

These are all valid points, since is only sensible to change piston and rods, going all the way to a 416 with the crank is a good plan which makes it easier to hit your target with more cubic inches and less compression ratio.

If you go stroker, you'll need at least the following to hit your target:

416 stroker kit (the one I have is a 10.8:1 CR)
Camshaft with 7.5mm fuel pump lobe (we used 236/248 @.050" and .698"/.706" lift, I would have gone a bit smaller)
LT4 fuel system (pump and injectors) and ZL1 in tank pump.
A SC capable of delivering ~ 12psi boost (I used a Heartbeat 2300)
Good exhaust system (we used ARH LT 2" primaries, 3.5" collector)
Water/Meth injection system.

Dyno plot is below from our 416 setup with 12psi:

93oct? Or racing gas?

Now I am planning to go 416 strocker, but not decided to go 10:1 or 10.5:1 with 93 oct + meth.

Over the next several weeks my car will be in the shop and will be able to real world see how close to 800 the “t1 can get with out a stroker kit. I’ll have results hopefully before Christmas

It is not impossible. I am over 800 in 5th gear without nitrous or overspinning my blower. Are you going to start a thread?

All good things I needed to know for my build.I like being different than what everyone else does. I think I will go the FBO route, upgrade fuel system, drop in pistons, and have vengeance racing play with the nitrous and see what we come up with. Collecting data and parts now. Hopefully have done by summer. I will keep updates as I go. Thanks for the insight guys!
