Installing Scosche kit and Pumpkin 6.95 4.4.4 - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

Ok guys here is my 2nd major audio overhaul to my car audio.

My first question is do i need to cut off the wire harness on the pumpkin then solder each lead to the scosche harness? Im normally very good with figuring these wires out but am i missing something here? Im assuming wires need cutting regardless.

I will update this thread as i go.

This is the harness piece im talking about. Its a black connector with 12 pins, should i cut this off and solder each wire to corresponding scosche wire?

I used plug butt connectors. Mine are soldered but unplug so if I use my head unit in another car/truck all I do is plug in the new harness adapter for the vehicle. They have rubber covers. You should be able to get them at any hardware store or automotive parts supply.

The brown key2 wire, does that go to the telephone mute wire on the scosche kit?

Edit. I got one wire left on scosche kit, the brown telephone wire and two possible wires on pumpkin, brown key2 wire and a grnd -12v wire. Not sure which one to use.

O read on google that the scosche mute wire should be soldered to the black 2nd grnd wire on the pumpkin, is that right? The mute wire does say -12v implying ground. I just want to make sure.

Also i just noticed there is a speed sensing wire from the scosche kit, does that supposed to go anywhere?

K guys i will leave the speed vss wire not attached and i attached the phone mute negative to the black ground on tge pumpkin. If anyone whos otherwise please let me know asap.

So after 2 hours of trying to get the headunit into the housing i gave up for today. Is there something im doing wrong?

I'm pretty sure you have to do some cutting to the trim piece to get the 6.95 unit to fit. Bile_Won would be the best to comment as he's done a similar install.

So I got everything in and everything is working good BUT..

My amps no longer turn off, they seem to stay on forever, do they eventually turn off? I have counted at least 30min already and they are still on. Even the stock amp in the trunk seems to be on still even after i open the drivers door and the stereo is off and key removed.

It took me about 45min with a regular fine file from a hardware store. Im sure people can do it faster, i wanted to take my time. Once i get this amp turn off thing figuted out i will post lots of pics.

Here it is, finally painted, installed and ive had a chance to play with it, amazing setup far superior to pioneer headunits imo.
