HOW MANY OF YOU PREFER TO LEAVE YOUR Z STOCK

You read here where someone has did this or that to make their car run faster or add more horsepower to their Z. I am wondering how many off us are satisfied with the bone stock ZL1 {maybe add a CAI but that is all} and not add any performance parts? I know everyone does not mod their cars so post up and tell us why you prefer to leave it stock.

I prefer to leave my cars stock. From experience, I have learned that mods never work as well as factory installed equipment designed by GM/Ford/BMW engineers. Unless GM puts out a kit that they warranty, I'll stay with the stock 580hp. It's more than enough for all but the top drivers out there.

Just my opinion.

Well, I didn't leave mine quite stock. I thought I would. But I blacked out a few things.

Biggest was that I thought it was too quiet. So I put CAI and headers on it. That pretty much satisfied my need for mods. I don't think I'll ever do hardcore work on it. I might be an SS one day and strip it out, coilovers, all that and do a straight up trailer road racer. But don't want to do that to my ZL1.

Never enough power for me, ever car I buy I already have a game plan for mods. I know you never get the money back if you sell, but that's why it's a hobby.

Except for some cosmetic changes and maybe a rotofab cai, I'm thinking stock will do just fine.

When I purchased my ZL1 in January I had every intention to leave it stock. Like others have said, 580 HP seemed more than enough for me.

Well, that lasted until July. That's when the cold air intake went on. Next came the ported throttle body, then the Big Gulp and water bottle relocation kit. By September the car had a custom tune followed shortly thereafter by an over drive crank pulley. And this doesn't count all the cosmetic changes I made during that time.

I admire all of you with the self-control to keep your car stock. I tried hard to stay with you. But once you start modding, it's awfully hard to stop.

I have really thought about doing some of the performance stuff but I am like BigBoyBlue after you start adding all that stuff it seems you have to work on it or it becomes less dependable. I think I will leave well enough alone.

With my choice of mods and leaving the exhaust 100% stock for now, my car has fooled everyone who has ridden in it that it's stock. It behaves stock, but with a tad more blower whine at higher RPMs.

Picking up 100rwhp for $3000 is just unbeatable and too cheap not to take advantage of!

I prefer to mod my cars, but on my Z I think 580 is enough. I have done muffler delete for magnaflow y pipes and a fuse pull. I tinted the windows because to me that's a must. Blacked out the emblems and lights. Probably all I will do maybe except for the carbon fiber from roto-fab and a tune.

12 second cars a dime a dozen anymore. not point in leaving it stock. I would have left it stock if it was faster ha ha.

I was honestly just very dissapointed in the strait line speed stock. My Z06 would have just eaten the stock car alive.

on the flip side love the handling and over all drive of the car stock. proabably will only do minor suspension mods. solid rear subframe bushing, phadt trailing/toe arms and call it a day.

as far a less dependable I dont' see it. I have a bit more boost, a differnt MM TB, a CAI. I have 8k on the mods trouble free. the car is still very stock, drives like stock only less traction and more go fast.

you pick the right mods and you will have no issues. Honeslty for he $1500 I have spent on my car I can't imigine not doing it. It pulls so much harder and it took me ~2.5hours to do.
