I own a brand new zl1 with a diesel motor in it!

I just purchased a 2013 zl1 and get it home in the garage and hear what seems to be a knock of some sort. I open the hood while the motor is running and it sounds like a cummins diesel motor. I know it's probably the dreaded supercharger noise, but come on gm $56k for this hunk of shit? I'm currently in talks with gm and the dealer we'll see how far this goes........ Car has 110 miles on it

This is my fourth camaro so I'm no newbie to these cars. My point is wtf gm there is a tsb out they know its an ongoing issue come up with a fix already. I have video of the motor running I just don't know how to post it.

So what's everyone else's feedback/experience with this?

Hunk of shit is pretty harsh no? Some seem to be louder than others, to this day I hear nothing coming from the supercharger on my car.

My Z has the dreaded isolater sound but its not too bad. I hate the noise and I'm tempted to install the solid coupler but I'm terrified of voiding my S/Cer's warranty.

I have a little noise.

How many miles on yours. Maybe there is another issue like insufficient rotor clearance.

The solid isolators will eventually wear the supercharger out quicker as the factory setup with the spring absorbs the vibration. There is a company working on a totally new snout design as we speak

joes407, do you know if that redesign is going to be a factory warranty repair or is it aftermarket?

That's not normal. My ZL sounds nowheres near like a diesel. Others I have heard dont either. I agree calling it a name if it sounds that horrid after spending that kind of money.

Put it back in GM's lap. You never noticed this BEFORE you purchased the car? Perhaps with the garage it's just amplifying it too. But still no - even with mine in the garage at idle it sounds nowheres near like a diesel.

Maybe a GM tech rep will jump in here...

Some good info in this thread - Post #7:

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=308377

Some are worse than others - most people change to the solid version when they change pulleys etc - that's what I'm doing

There's an app "capture" you can use to upload onto YouTube and then post the URL here.

The isolator that rattles, is part of the SC. The SC as a whole is basically a complete assembly that is treated as one part by GM.
If any part of the SC fails, the entire SC gets replaced.

IF GM is willing to replace it obviously it seems that there is no guarantee it wont make noise since it seems to be a sporatic issue? Do you guys know if they do replace it, is it numbers matched to the car. I bought the car to keep as a stock collectible.
