My 12' displays "S" until you touch a paddle.

Mu '12 displays "S" also when I shift into M, when I tap on the right paddle it says M1..

my lt 2012 shows s when i put shifter in m mode and

The 1LS and 2LS Camaros have a different rear axle ratio for better fuel economy so most likely they don't have a sport mode.

From the sounds of it, the '12 2LS may not have a true 'S' mode considering it's designed for fuel efficiency.

OP, only way to be sure is to hold a paddle shifter for 5 seconds when in sport and let us know what happens. Or perhaps, because the car is new, the buttons may not be seating correctly and you'll have to loosen them up a bit by using them a few times. My hands-free buttons were like that when i got them but now they're fine.

I have a 2011. I put mine into M and my car immediately shows "S" until I hit the paddle shifters.

^^^yes. Not sure if something bad would come out of that but i normally shift when im completely stopped.

Mine says "S" if I shift from Drive to Manual while actually moving. It does it every time. When I wanted to use the paddle shifters, I would wait until I was at a full stop then shift down....the display would say "M1"...then progress to "M2" and so-on as I shifted up. I had never seen the "S" before until a few days ago when I shifted to manual while driving. Ive owned this car since August and didnt know that.
