You actually think that Ruess would tell the press "Our car is slower and less efficient than our main competition?"

No, but I doubt the new Camaro will be less efficient than the Mustang that did nothing to improve its mpg ratings.. Actually, it was lowered for the manual transmission GT and the v6.

Just to be clear he is confident the 2016 Camaro will beat a 2015 Mustang. Here is hoping Ford does nothing for 2016.

Well you never know what surprises Ford may come out swinging with, but I will point out that there is a home page featured thread on the Mustang6G website showing changes for 2016 and they are pretty much all minor (cosmetic, or similar) type changes from what I read. Maybe there is more that Ford hasn't revealed, but I haven't seen any indication of that yet.

Looking at Ford's last history I would say they have something up there sleeve.

Camaro comes out as 2010 model with over 400 HP, 2011 Mustang has the coyote at over 400HP

2012 ZL1 announced at over 550 HP, comes in at 580, 13 GT500 announced at 662.

If I was a betting man, I would bet Ford has something up there sleeves to counter camaro, might not be as early as 16 but for sure something by 17.

It won't be their new 10-spd auto at least. All the data I have been reading says that won't be ready till 2017 at least.

In '11 they came out with a new motor which is why. I doubt they are working on a new motor at this point with GT350/GT500 work still ongoing, but it's possible. More than likely we will see a slight bump from some intake/exhaust work trickle down from the GT350 to the base GT.

It's a safe bet they are working on a Coyote update to try to match the LT1. The best way to prevent that is to release an LT1 making more than 460 hp in the SS.

I know it won't be a new motor, but I bet if the Camaro has 460+ HP Ford will find a way for the 5.0 to get an extra 15 to 20 HP to be close/match/exceed within a model year or two

...what's that, like 32 cams per coyote with hotter profiles?

Don't forget the GT350 and GT350R.
