It would be awesome to see a LT7 with around 540-550hp. I do believe that GM would give it to the Camaro first. GM seems to be shying away from the Corvette always having it first way of thinking. We shall see.

Totally seems realistic for Chevrolet to have another performance motor available. Ford builds the 5.2 flat crank specifically for the GT350 , it isn't super hard to believe that the general might do something similar but easier.

I'm very excited to say the least. I keep thinking this car sounds deeper, aka, more displacement.

I'm in heaven trying to decide between a Z/28 and a ZL1! Both phenomenal cars. If the Z/28 has the same engine as the ZL1, which I think is very unlikely because they are totally different animals, I'd be ok with that too. But you have to remember Al O said they are sticking to the car's DNA. This thing is n/a and will be a wicked SOB.

I could not tell from the sound of the videos, I thought maybe I heard a supercharger. I did noticed the other day that the LS7 is still available as a crate motor.

So if all things being = a DI LS7 will get you 540+ HP and if they make it with better cam and springs maybe 560 HP and turning up to 7800RPM?

I think that Al O quote is more hype than anything, and to further that point remember that the GM power train engineers are also another separate team

Wouldn't it be a hoot if the Z28 got a flat crank 6.2L motor that can spin to 8K and make 550 - 600 hp? I love flat crank V8's, especially in a track based car.

When I heard that car in low RPM, my first thought was, that sounds like an LS7 and not LT1. The pulsation sounded much more like LS7.

Not. Happening.

The 5.2 has a hard enough time hitting those RPMs, and its the largest flatplane V8 ever to my knowledge. Increasing the displacement by ~20% could very well cause such an engine to shake itself to pieces. As such, flat plane engines have an upper limit 5-ish litres.

A cross plane engine doesn't have those same problems. There is no upper limit to how big you can make one. And they can still spin plenty fast too.

Yep, the 5.2 Voodoo is the largest production FPC V8 that I can find. Besides, a push rod V8 really wouldn't be able to use the RPM range offered by a FPC. The valve train would explode.

I also believe they'll have a 7.0L 550hp LT7. The primary argument against a supercharged Z/28 in my view is weight. If they have it supercharged like the ZL1, it will be heavy like the ZL1 and then you'd just be left asking why it even exists instead of having an aero package for the ZL1. They also won't risk just having an SS motor for the same reason. The LT7 could be put into a future corvette model as well, so the Corvette argument can't really be used IMO.
