Should the New Camaro Have Been Based Off the Avista Design?

I guess we all see what we want to see, but I see some Camaro heritage in the Avista.

I see some early 2nd gen in the crest of the front fenders and the shape of the C-pillar and the way it sweeps back. I see some 3rd gen in it's mean, squinty eyed head lights. I see a combo of 2nd and 5th gen in it's muscular haunches. And this is all without Camaro specific front and rear fascias.

Would you have rather seen the new Camaro based off of the Avista design?

a new design of camaro has to use design elements and visual cues of prev generations, the avista does not have that...so therefore they won't use it...

I don't see any Camaro in that...nothing iconic or such..

Lots of F-Type Jag and Porsche though...

The Avista concept is way, way more Euro styled to me.

No. The Buick is nice, but it looks like a luxury car, not at all like a modern muscle car should look...

I agree. I think this buick was definitely built to compete with the F-Type

No.

The Avista is a nice concept but it doesn't look like an American muscle/pony car. The 6th gen styling was a safe play by GM, which limited it. I wish they could have done a little more but kept a consistent "Camaro" look to it.

No,

That said, with some more aggressive "muscle" and less "lux" feel in the front and rear end design, I could certainly see the car as a 6th gen Camaro. It is a beautiful car, but in that current design, it is not a Camaro.

I agree with the above statement...as much as I love the 6th gen, and I do very much, it was certainly a safe play.

No,

This is not a Camaro. Although Great job GM this is a gorgeous car! Although I do not want the twin turbo v6 either. This is why I bought my Camaro now as everyone wants to get away from v8's. Better for your 3 year turn over people, not so much for your 10 year keepers. Imagine replacing twin turbo's, hoses, cleaning or replacing external oil lines etc. at 70-125,000.

Just for the record, I didn't mean the Avista "as is". I meant the Avista design theme with requisite Camaro fascias, etc.

Very nice looking Jaguar/Aston. No, I prefer the look of the 6th and 5th gen.

I voted avista, for the sole reason of it being completely different than gen 5. I think it would have been cool.

I see it. Add in the Camaro front and rear fascias and accentuate the haunches some more, and it would make for a nice modern 7th gen.

I'm glad you see it too, Todd. It's really so obvious to me, almost to the point where I wouldn't be surprised if this "theme" started out as a rejected Camaro styling proposal.

This thread is also further proof of why it would be rejected. lol
