Engine blew new build

Wanting to get some opinions on the build.

L8T block (for future proofing)
400 Cubic inches
10.5:1 compression
Forged rotating assembly (callies crank and rods, diamond pistons)

Plan for the car is stock blower for now but going to a 2650 in the future

Could you call your neighbor LME and talk with them

Are you trying to make 1000 or 2000hp? Is something wrong with your current block? L8t block is nice for strength but it adds another 100lbs over a lt1/l86 aluminum block.

I have an l8t crank in an Lt1 block and the extra torque helped offset some turbo lag with my stock converter. PD blower is going to amplify that torque.

Scoggin Dickey is also in TX and very big in the L8t game, wouldn't be a bad idea to give them a call, see what they say. They're who I got my crank from.

You have a blown engine in a 2023 ZL1 already? What the heck happened?

Well there was white smoke coming out the tailpipes and the coolant reservoir was dry. Looked at the bottom of the car and there was oil dripping from flange where the header meets the off road connection pipe. Car takes a while to crank up and start but it runs like utter shit like its down a cylinder. Assuming it's blown tbh. Hoping for the best the preparing for the worst. Should know exactly what's wrong this weekend

OK, so it wasn't stock. That explains a lot more. Sounds like something went wrong with the build. Hope you're using a different shop for the rebuild.

It would make blue smoke if the engine is hurt

Stock block and rotating assembly wouldn't have went out if it was built correctly, those mods are very mild and people use the stock block all the time for MUCH wilder builds without issues. This was very likely a bad build or tune issue.

Oh damn I think I saw the video and the datalog from your car. Were you logging when it blew? My biz partner sent me a video and a datalog from a ZL1 that just popped in Texas.

GM will cover everything under warranty, no problem.

But seriously, I would be having a heart to heart conversation with whoever did your build. That's seriously messed up on a brand new car.
