It looks sealed up like stock. Does that not defeat the purpose of open air like the rest of CAI on the market?

Just because it is closed does not mean it's not less-restrictive.

Thank you all for the great comments. . @CAI what type of gains should I see on a modded Zl1 and Sock 1?

EDF you seemed to ignore the question about the supercharger whine. I'm curious to as if this makes the supercharger whine more noticeable on the LT4. Thanks bud.

I'm thinking you need to get rid of the pink radiator overflow tank. The CF intake goes awesome with everything else. Nice piece for sure.

An open air intake will perform worse due to heat soaking. The only advantage is the noise, but not performance. Speaking from experience.

Hmm. These open air intake have been coming in factory cars for a while now.

The main advantage of a Cold Air Intake or CAI (not to be confused with "Cold Air Inductions, Inc." CAI) is to draw air from outside the engine bay where it's cooler. My previous 5th Gen SS 1LE OEM intake, like most cars, drew air from inside the engine compartment behind the radiator where it can get pretty hot. I bought a CAI Inc. CAI for my SS 1LE that sealed out the engine bay and drew air from under the car. The ZL1 already draws air from in front of the radiator through a snorkel-like baffle so the biggest performance benefit will come from the less restrictive air flow from the oiled cloth type filter. You probably won't notice any minor performance increase from this but you will hear a noticeable difference in engine noise (or music, depending on your POV). You'll hear the supercharger whine much more clearly because the CAI replaces the baffling of the OEM intake that was designed to tune out high-frequency sounds. I think most ZL1 owners buy a CAI mainly for the look and sound anyway.

Based on the photos the OP posted, I think the "Elite Carbon" CAI is one of the best looking I've seen so far. It does look pretty badass!
