Interior Seat Stiching
Well I bought my 2SS new June 2016 and the car is always garaged and driven during fair weather as I’ve been trying to get it the way I want it. So getting ready for a car show tomorrow I’m looking over my seats and noticed the thread on the drivers side seat back where the gray meets the black, the thread has separated. But wait, that’s not all. Upon closer inspection the seam where the two colors meet is open at least 4”. You can see the foam and I’m really ticked about this! I know things can happen but I take car of the whip and the coin spent, I’m sure you don’t see this occurring in the Cadillac or Corvette brand.
So I have a call into the dealership and though they could get me in tomorrow, I have the car show that I really want to attend, so Monday it is. I know the service department will look it over, say they have a vendor who only comes on certain days and I’ll need to come back on that day, leave it and then come back when done. Just wish they had the seat back skin in stock and a simple unzip, remove and replace and be on my happy way. Anyone else have or have had this issue?

That’s not right. Car isn’t anywhere near old enough for that to be happening. Good luck with the dealership.

That is the wear and tear side unfortunately. Like, getting in and out of the car...
Something caused the thread to stretch and break. Do you put your hand on that area when you get in the car? You can see areas where the stitching is cutting into the leather, that is from pressure on the leather stretching it out. Pulling on the leather will only unravel the stitching more. I could restitch it....

No Sir! I very careful in entering and exiting the car. When I get in my butt goes in first and then I put my legs in or I’ll put my right leg in first and sit, them bringing in the left. Upon exit I just turn and get out as the seat back plays no role in my exit. I’ve learned that this seems to be a common issue now that I’ve brought it up, and I realize things happen. Just thinking for the cost things would be better put together as it was my passenger side stitching that I’ve been watching as you can see the stitch between the two materials and to me, those should never ever be seen, only the stitching that’s on top.
My Sales Solutions Specialist sent me a message that it’s warranty and I’ll leave it to them to resolve. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So the dealership looked at the seat back and unfortunately it’s happened before. They said they could send it out to be fixed but elected to order a new seat back cover (1-2 wks to get in) and when it arrives they’ll call me for the service. They said it takes about 1/2 a day to fix as the seat needs to be removed.
