I can't believe no airbag deployed? Not even the ones on the A pillar? And yeah, Onstar should have been calling (with a hit like that).

1. Glad you're okay.
2. Depending on speed at the moment of impact, the side curtain airbags should have deployed on the driver side to provide an additional layer of protection for you. 3. That damage looks like a motorcycle hit you and the rear wheel swung around to clip the back fender. Very bizarre if that was a car. 4. That A-pillar is fused to the unibody, it could have crumpled under there. They will have to cut away any bent areas and weld in replacements. Since the new Camaro has a weak roof load rating in safety tests, it might not be advised to replace the pillars. 5. WTF is up with your MR228? That fracture is not clean and there is no damage to the tire behind it. 6. Overall, with the sacrificial nature of the 6g, high repair costs and newly lowered replacement cost due to heavy discounting -- your insurance company may pay for a thorough damage assessment and then total the vehicle. 7. There was one guy on here with quarter panel damage and by the time they were into cutting it apart I think it ended up being a 20k repair -- which still didn't come out right and was later totaled anyhow. His initial damage on the outside didn't even look as bad as yours. 8. If your insurance company wants to send you to some regional/national bodyshop chain, fight them. Most of those places are ill-equipped to tackle anything more than a Honda Civic or VW Jetta. Good luck at the hospital. I hope you don't have any nerve or soft tissue injuries. Really glad your family wasn't in the car. |

My biggest worry about this whole thing was he hit me at going at least 25 MPhil and u was going 45 Mph and the airbags nor onstar called me. His car was disabled and did a 360 luckily I was gripping the steering with two hands and tightly before he hit me. I found it funny all the knee pads flew off .

Bob was awesome, showed up in 5 minutes, mad sure I was good, let me keep my ride at his house while I went to hospital, hooked me up with a beer to cool me down and handled the towing for me while I was in hospital.

I'm so sorry to hear about your accident. Especially having your family in the car with you. As it has been repeated many times, the car can be repaired. I can totally empathize with you about idiots hitting you though. I spent a month in the hospital years ago from a sorry inconsiderate drunk driver. I still have issues today from all the injuries I sustained in that one. We try our best to take care of ourselves and our families, and it only take a split second for an idiot to totally destroy that for us.
That was 27 years ago. |

Man, really sorry about your car. You must be hurting inside and out. I'm going to be delicate here but do have a couple comments/questions:
1 - Did you add your mods to your insurance policy? If not, are you planning on going after the other driver to cover their costs yourself? 2 - Everyone should take a good look at his wheels. That's not supposed to happen....
