GM must be getting desperate on key recall
I first got something in the mail about this months ago. I like my key as it is and have determined that there is no way in hell that I can accidently turn it off (or on) so I ignored it. Tuesday I got a mailing warning me that I was rising my life and I really need to get my key fixed. Today I got an email saying the same thing. Is the participation in this ridiculous recall so low that they need to beat the bushes for more?

Whoever signed off on this ridiculous recall on Camaro was smoking something other than cigarettes. I got one in the mail the other day as well.
My answer is still no. I'm not worried about it.

I received the joke of an email this morning. Not sure if replies to the email go anywhere, but I replied anyway.
I had my Camaro in a couple weeks ago for a free oil change. The service writer asked if I wanted to perform the key recall, while talking in a monotone voice and looking at the ceiling. I told him hell no. Then he said that no one is getting it done and how stupid it was. Not even their own employees who own Camaros are doing it.

I am not turning in my key.... BUT... if GM had done nothing and people had been hurt as a result of it, the outcry over this would be the opposite. For once, they are trying to do what they feel is the right thing (allbeit primarily for liability issues, I'm sure).
Let's not beat them up for doing what they feel is the right thing. That said, you own the key and the car and they cannot force you to change it. Keep yours, as I have and will continue to do.

I got the same thing. I even had the dealership call me. The guy told me that if I wanted it change they would take care of it but if it was him to just ignore it.

I like how the email used the word, "MANDATORY."

Yeah I got also, I have to go in soon for a taillight that is cracked under warranty. When I do I may let them have one key to shut them up. Last 3 cars I have owned I have never had to use my other key so I figure its worth the peace.

It happened to me.
I have not done the recall.
A couple of weeks ago I got into my car and started it. It was raining so I had a couple of paper towels on the floor and I was using them to sop up some of the water off my shoes. As I was moving my feet around drying the bottom of my shoes my knee hit the key and the engine shut off. I was sitting in the parking lot in park, but just the fact that it happened was just plain weird, crazy, caught me by surprise and made my think. Hmm, maybe there is something to all this.
