Have any of you considered an ATS-V?

I was pretty stoked about the new Camaro. My wife and I tested a 2015 and she didn't like the lack of visibility. Truthfully, I wasn't really thrilled about it either. Long story short, a 2017 ZL-1 was my car. After a lot of consideration, I ordered a 2016 Cadillac ATS-V. Haven't received it yet, but I can't wait! I still may get a Camaro later-who knows? Anyway, any of you considered a CTS-V, ATS-V or a Vette? What are your thoughts on them? GM is now building some of the very best World-Class cars.

Yes, but I work where people would look at it and say "you get paid too much".

A Camaro, on the other hand, doesn't have that same stigma.

nope, want V8.

CTS-V may be an option if i could justify the cost but really it comes down to will I want it in my garage for 15 years. Cars like CTS-V, ATS-V, M3, AMG, while they are really really nice cars and I would love to own one, for me, they fall in the "supped up" sporty type car category (for lack of a better phrase) in terms of looks, I want more of the purpose built performance car look - Stingray, Camaro, Mustang, Challenger etc.

ATS-V would be my second choice for sure. Awesome car! Since we are only using the Camaro as a weekend car, I didn't want to spend the extra $ for the ATS right now.

Where I work, buying any luxury brand leads to management giving the obligatory "I guess we are paying you too much" because they all drive Jettas and beat up trucks despite making more than $250k per year and living in very expensive homes.

My boss drives an ATS 2.0T, and literally told me that "one day I will be able to afford this car" lol.

That's horrible people skills for a manager.

Where I work you cannot tell who makes $150k and who makes $50k (besides obvious job titles). Everyone gets along and works together without looking down on anyone.

That's the nature of where I work, and a small group (myself included) is working to change that. Most just put up with the BS because the pay essentially doubles every 5-7 years. The good news is that there is a relatively young mandatory retirement age, so the dated policies tend to leave with the retiring managers.

It's also a place where the management group will ask you to do a job according to independent standards, then undermine your credibility to appease unhappy clients to keep the money coming in the door.

If I had to do it all over again, I would choose a different career altogether, but I'm too far into it now to start over. Any change would result in a massive pay cut. My plan now is to have my house (my only outstanding debt) paid off and a sizable chunk put away for retirement by 35, then either work for myself, or get into something I enjoy doing, even if it isn't financially rewarding.

Yep! Terrible management style. I would never want any of my employees to "get in over their head" by making foolish financial decisions, however I like to see them do well for themselves. Management should want employees to make more money and better themselves. Happy employees make for a better work environment and bottom line. You should buy what you want and not worry about what they think. Sounds like they aren't sticking around anyway.

Agreed, and that is what the next generation is trying to accomplish.

The senior members in my office live their lives based on the possible perceptions of others, so things like me driving a nicer car then my boss (even if he's not into cars and spends money on other interests), or what spot I park in, or where my office is located really matter to these people.

My total monthly bills (mortgage, car payment, utilities, etc.) are only about 25% of my take home pay each month, so it's not like I'm over reaching financially lol.

Nice car, but want a V8 and love the look and design of the Camaro. Love Cadillac products, I own a SRX and love it!

72k vs 45k lol. If you can spend 72k on a car you can spend 80 thus rather get a c7 zo6.

Exactly...Z06 would be the car I would buy, or even loaded Stingray for that money...but I love the Camaro and happy with my decision.
