I know you can have more fun with a manual but commuting back and forth to DC. No way in hell I would get a stick in any form or fashion not even a supercar if I could afford it lol.

Nobody brought up shoes yet?
Vans (the classics) or Cons work best I think when driving stick. A pair of Jeff Spicoli's will do nicely. |

Clutch
Does anyone take it out of gear at a red light?
Have a friend that says I shouldn't keep the clutch in all the time at the lights...

I read that you are supposed to leave it in neutral if the light is gonna take longer than a couple seconds. Something about a part within the clutch being overstretched or worn more than normal if you keep the clutch in for too long.

This was the first manual car I have ever owned, and while I learned on a few other cars, and have a motorcycle, this is my first car that I actually had for more than an hour with stick. It was frustrating at first but you get the hang of it. Even now I find myself giving too much gas before letting out the clutch. But I will get better satire goes on.

Sorry man.... I learned stick on the farm truck when I was 10 (43 years ago). Just taught my 17 year old daughter on my V6 M6 and it only took her a total of about 4 hours on two different sessions.... Hill starts, reverse, parking, the whole enchilada and she'd never driven stick before..... Hope you get more comfortable soon, cause it's a blast even in stop/go traffic. Key is to relax and not expect perfection...practice, practice, practice.....

Yeah you'll wear it out. although some people say that since its a newer car these clutches last forever. im not taking any chances. Your supposed to put it in neutral ANY time you come to a complete stop. Like the other guy says I just cruise on neutral 100-200 feet to the light.
