I agree this is an outdated chassis, but this new wide-track upgrade from the Demon makes sense. Expect other subsystems from the Demon to find it's way to the Hellcat line-up down the road.

Dodge's real track car is the Viper ACR. I'm surprised this wide body Hellcat is only offered in a 6M. That is good thing for anyone running against one at the strip.
You're absolutely right. I think Dodge is really shooting themselves in the foot if they're only going to offer the wide body in a manual. That just doesn't make sense to me.

Again Dave, not sure why you think M6 only. They are saying that it starts at $725xx with the M6.... Autos , Nav , sunroof, etc options are just that .. $ Options just like our ZL1's. I'm Not defending Dodge here just facts ... Hope this helps ...

I'm from the show me state! Haven't seen a hellcat running better than an 11.10 without the bottle at the tracks I've been running at. I'm sure modded cars can run better but then you start comparing apples to oranges.

I agree Dave. I would strongly consider a Hellcat Charger as a DD down the road. Could not give up the ZL1 for anything Dodge has out right now. The base Charger Hellcat is actually faster than the Challenger with more top end. Better looking also.

Agreed. I thought about it, but I couldn't get past how heavy the Charger is, and wanted something that handles better.

However, when they move it to the Giorgio platform in a few years, I'll probably go for it.

Modded ZL1 manual vs bolt on HC Charger in -DA. Time slip is the one on the left. In Car vid of run below. There was another one there with same mods plus E85 running 9.9 @ 140. Both driven to/from track with DRs & factory wheels up front.

Spent some time talking to the Owners and on their forums to learn about the competition. These Cars are no joke on the strip. The Demon 9.6 time slip is not much different from this HC Charger slip. Both were run in -DA on Florida tracks. Demon just launched a lot harder off the tbrake.

Lipstick on a fat pig. An SS would probably beat it around the Ring.

In Florida?? I find that shocking. My Cat runs 10.7s with just Drag radials and intake and driveshaft. Prior to the intake It ran 10.8s and I honestly think it still would have done 10.7s in better air. In a week and a half it goes under the knife and will be a mid 9 second car. Nothing crazy….smaller upper pulley, tune, high flow cats, larger fuel injectors, pump gas and MS109 tunes. Pump gas should be very low 10's, and MS109 will take it into the 9s. No nitrous. Getting these cars into the 9s is pretty simple and there are several proven recipes. Low 10's is just a pulley and tune.

As for the wide body Hellcat in question….it's a little lame for the price. ZL1 1lE upgrade package is about the same price and you get suspension and aero on top of it. I already run wider after market rims on the street and if I want to road race with 305s I can fit 10.5 inch rims up front and 11s in the back as is. I currently road race on my OEM rims and they do just fine with the Pirellis. For the price if I wanted a dedicated track car (which I do) I'd go Zl1 1LE. If I wanted a drag car I'd buy a Hellcat and spend the 7500 upgrading it. That is plenty of cash for 9s and no fugly flares. Demon is cool but not worth the pain of acquisition and to one trick for me.

I can run a 2.85 pulley for the street on pump gas, a 2.65 on MS109 at the drag strip and runway events, either the 2.85 or 3.10 or factory upper for the racetrack depending on how much boost is desired based on the track and all for way less money. Swap pulley, tunes and tire set up based on what you want to do. Simple, versatile and fun.

Yeah I'm definitely not talking about the cars potential at the drag strip/highway. They're fast straight line rockets especially with just an intake, pulley and tune. Believe me I'm still pissed at GM for sticking us with a car that with Heads/Cam/E85/Meth/FBO/Porting only makes ~800 RWHP, meanwhile an E85, pulley, intake, tune Hellcat makes 900+ RWHP. Local tuner shop has an Auto hellcat with intake, tune, pulley, on E85 with a 100 shot, has the A8 shifting at 7500 RPM, it pulls a wheelie on slicks and skinnies and runs 9s no problem.

Haven't seen it yet on the left coast and I've seen plenty HC's. Unmodded as you call it.
