First ZL1 mods on 5k budget

Just bought a 2014 ZL1 and I was thinking CAI, headers, and a tune. Wondering if you all might have suggestions that will still keep me under $5k. My only goal is to reach 600 rwhp eventually. I don't care if it's 600 on the nose, that's all I want. Trying to keep away from cam and heads. Thanks!

Also, literally never used a forum in my life so if I'm posting things incorrectly just let me know.

In texas especially, spinning the blower faster will make the engine run even hotter...think about some cooling upgrades along with performance...ADM in your neck of the woods or Jannety or Lingenfelter can help you out!!! I have the Lingenfelter Stage 1 package with additional cooling and am at 592 rwhp....Good Luck!!!

I saw that ADM has that ZL-650 package and have heard great things about someone named Andy and his tuning capabilities. Maybe I'll throw a set of headers on with that package...step a little over my budget, but be at my ultimate goal. Thank you!

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the beautiful car! Way to go!
You are on the right track. Kooks or ARH headers, intake and dyno tune for 93 should get you to 530whp for about 1800- $2 000. You now have many options to get 70 whp for 3k. Cam or E85 or pulleys and more octane. Check out Jannetty packages or as stated ADM. You can easily attain your goals with your budget.
Happy new year

I'm thinking ADM's ZL-650 package, headers w/ high flow cats (thanks to me living in an emissions county in Texas), and watching the heat. Should I skip on the headers for now and go ahead with some extra cooling with that money instead?

If you want to stay within a budget and you're somewhat mechanically inclined then do the work yourself. The mods you listed are easy.
Add a 9.55 lower pulley, a KB boost-a-pump and some ID-850 injectors to your list then get a tune.
Don't worry about cooling mods until you start going to road courses.

I would (and did ) Jannetty 125 kit, the only thing i did different was source the headers from Maryland speed and I found the ID850 used from a member.

Running no cats and headers, with spots for all four o2 sensors is all the exhaust you will ever need. With Ted's tune I was able to pass OBD emissions in MD which is pretty tight.

Typically Maryland Speed has been running end or month sales (check vendor section), (to get to goals) and the prices are aggressive.

The Jannetty package is doable in a weekend and really turns on the car. Its brutally fast through all the range and sounds great.

We could set you up with a number of packages. We usually recommend a pulley, headers, injectors, intake and a tune. If you want to really turn the boost up we would start looking into cooling mods as well.

Believe me it's something I'd like to get into eventually. I am however a helicopter mechanic and have only dug into an old 350 in my time. No late model experience whatsoever. Hell, my set of metric tools is even a joke as everything I work on overseas is SAE. I appreciate the insight though. One day! For now, I'll leave it to pros though.

What headers did you use? I'd love to run catless, the sound is just awesome to me. Just have to pass inspection unfortunately.

Everything Army. CH-47 Chinook mainly, but also the Apache and the Blackhawk.

It's not that different. If you know how to use a puller to remove the harmonic balancer on an old 350, you can do it on this engine.
And header install on this car was easier than any other car I've done it on. And I done a lot over many years of cars from '60s vehicles to present.
