Where is the torque?

2015 l99 s mode in 4th gear at 40 mph and I floor it.... (it stays in 4th) and it takes a long time to get 60 mph. I have felt more torque in my ex wifes grandmas 87 4.3 astro van!! I know this 6.2 has more than this in it What gives??

Im not understanding what youre expecting. 4th gear at 40mph doesn't put you in the engines power band...

4th gear at 40mph puts you way out of the torque curve. This isn't a diesel. Torque doesn't really kick in until 2500+

ls3's need to be revved out. if you desire that low end torque you'll need a set of turbos.

It should really downshift...unless OP is not flooring it properly. But yeah 4-mph in 4th..more like 1st gear haha.

So the question is ,Whats causing the OPs car to hold 4th gear when he floors it?...Do you have it in "manual mode" or do you have paddles that allow you to hold a gear....If so...feel free to slap the down paddle and find 1st or 2nd gear.

suspect there might be some AFM at play here, when I tuned mine it became a much more aggressive car, not to mention the trans tune made the shifts more smooth. used to get a lot of herky jerky shifting and it lacked something. pretty happy with it now! might check out the fuse pull procedure if you haven't already

4th gear at 40mph doesn't = power
~3k rpm is where it starts to get good

Autos can be finicky like that . Every auto iv had (several) have done it. Dont worry about it unless it happens a lot. Usually does it when its cold.

Astrovan 4.3 is done at 4500rpm, 6.2 doesnt really start to sing until 3500.
