So OP,
I had a 2011 v6 mustang for about 3 years. I modded it by putting a tune, highflow cat, cat back, and CAI. A couple of months later after modding my car out, I bought a 1SS. I am telling you from my own experience, start out with a car you REALLY want and will keep even after you pay it off. I bought the SS because for awile I wanted a car that turned heads, sounded nice, and was fast. But if you've been contemplating this desicion for awhile....I say go and get it. If you stick with your v6, that's cool you can at least say you have better mpg haha. |

If there is any chance you will eventually trade up to the SS, stop modding the V6 now. Don't sink any more money into a car that you'll get rid of anyway. The V6 was a nice car, but it's really not any faster than today's modern V6 "family cars." I didn't like that Accords and Camrys were so similar in performance to a V6 Camaro. Great looking car and still a great engine, but these Camaros are so darn heavy, they really need the grunt of a V8.

Insurance is not an issue. Mine went up a whopping $10 per month going from an inline 5 cylinder to a v8...

If your already thinking of modding and wanting to compete with a Challenger then do yourself a favor and get the V8. Trusdt me, you will not just stop at the Challenger and then you will want to compete wit an SS. Believe me as i have been tossin around both opetionms (FI or SS) for a while now and yeah a SC v6 to compete with a bone stock SS would be cool untill he does a mod and then your still looking at his rear. If you can handle that then go for it. I know i would still want more. Whether it be now or later, I would get the SS if Modding for power is your goal.
And sorry to the person with exhaust and a ghost cam (i have as well) a 6 does not sound like an 8. Period!
