Is there such a thing as TOO anal? (long)

So about a month ago I got a door ding. I took it to the most reputable body shop in town and asked them to fix it. I told them I wanted it perfect.
When I got it back it was better, not perfect. It had a tiny and I mean tiny little nick in the paint and it still had a noticeable ding. I asked them to do it again and this time please keep in mind I want it perfect.
So they repaint the fender but did very little if anything about the still remaining ding. So I once again had them try again. This time they kept it a week and when I got it back yesterday I got it home and I can STILL see where the door ding was. In addition to that my paint doesnt match perfectly (black). The paint looks perfect but under intense sunlight or at night with a flashlight its clearly different.
None of this is clearly noticeable to anyone but myself but I'm so anal about my cars that these imperfections are all I can see/think about when I look at my car! Am I being too anal? Suggestions?

No. Sadly I am like this too, and drive myself nuts sometimes. Hasn't gotten any better as I've gotten older either. Maybe will if my eyesight ever fades, but I doubt it.

Dunno - maybe try another body shop? Would hate to see you eat the cost of the first attempts. That's where I'd be at this point, though.

Same here , when it comes to my cars I am a perfectionist.

I've gotten better as I've gotten older. There will be a lot more nicks, scratches other issues with paint that will happen over the next few months.

I used to be like that. Then realized there's more things to worry about in life. Shit happens and worrying about tiny stuff only made me stay awake at night and made owning a car a not enjoyable

I am like you with my cars. And don't get me started about passengers and things they think can do in my car that piss me off to the extreme.

you will always be able to see it. This is why it is important when selling a vehicle, to present it in as good of shape as possible. That includes air brushing scratched leather and touching up any dings.

Dude you really need to lighten up. You will get to the point you wont even be able to enjoy your car. In the grand scheme of things this is nothing. In the future though clearly you don't like this shops repair work go some place else.

I used to run a local Pontiac car club. One meet a new guy showed up and all he did was stare at his own car. He didn't want to talk to anyone then he left. He emailed me a few days later saying he won't hang out any longer as we took away his time that he could've enjoyed more with his car. LOL. Don't be that guy. That's too anal.

Have you tried asking another person if they can find the ding within say, 10 seconds?
