Some really great stories here, and here's mine (I'm getting pretty old too!)...
Way back in the late 60's, I was in the Navy (Viet Nam Vet)... When we came back to the states in the fall of '68 I went home on leave and bought a '69 Road Runner. Drove it back to CA to find that my buddy had bought a '69 SS 396 Convertible Camaro. We had fun chasing each other around Long Beach for a couple of months before we had to go overseas again. Fast forward to last spring when the wife decided that we needed to leave our retirement home in AZ and move back to Nebraska to be close to the grandkids. I figured I needed a consolation gift for giving up the rest of my retirement, so I ordered my Camaro - without her having a clue that I was doing so. Love the car, only wish I could have it and Arizona at the same time!

2004 Saw some possible concept artwork.
2006 Saw actual Concept Camaro artwork. Said that's going to be my first new car! 2006-2008 Kept pictures of family (and the Concept Camaro) to keep me motivated over my 15 month, second tour in Iraq. 2009 Nearing end of third tour in Iraq, ordered my Camaro from Classic Chevrolet Grapevine, TX. 2010 February, been back a month...like waiting for Christmas morning. The dealership finally called and said she was in! 2010 Camaro 2SS Black on Black, Grey trim. 16 Miles. Love it! |

Since 1982.........In a Camaro Again 33 years later !!
Back in High School and The beginning of College I had a nice 1969 Camaro with a 350 and a 4 speed. That was my favorite car of several muscle cars I had back then. I had a '68 Mustang, '70 Camaro with a 4 speed and 396 and a '72 El Camino with a 350 4 Speed. Of all of them I like the looks and handling of the 1969 Camaro. Back in 2010 when the new Camaros came out I was impressed at the look and performance they had. About a year and a half ago I needed a new car and I looked at a couple Camaros and really liked them but at that time money was extremely tight and I bought a used 2012 Toyota Camry which has been an awesome car. Recently my Fiance' needed a car and she really loved the Camry so I sold it to her. This set the stage to look at Camaros again. I had been looking at several and test drove a couple and settled in on this one below. 27k miles and was owned by a little old lady over 70 bone stock except for a K&N air filter her husband installed. It sat in the garage most of the time and still looks and drives like new. I got a super deal on the 2010 2SS IBM Camaro. I originally wouldn't even consider an automatic but after driving several manuals and then this automatic I was super impressed with the automatic and the tap shifter mode. I just got it this weekend and it's sitting in my garage waiting for a new tag which I'm getting after work this afternoon. I have an older Lexus to drive as well so I can keep the miles off it and just drive it when I want to.

My mother and brother had been on my case for years to get a new car knowing I loved my 1990 Cutlass Supreme International. (Only saw one like it in all the years I owned it.)
In March 2013 I went to Google out of curiosity. Searched “2013 Blue Coupe.” A Kinetic Blue Metallic Camaro came up and I liked it. Two days later I went to see a salesman I knew and told him I was interested in that color. He took me to a back room to some guy that responds I have 30 minutes to order one but no guarantee I would get it. We write up the order and this guy tells me about their allocation of one and no guarantee of getting theirs. (They had just gotten partial approval the day before for theirs.) The next day my salesman tells me they had a couple hours left to change their order when I went in and they put mine in as their allocation. A month and a half later I receive my Camaro HWSE. To date I am over 1300 kids through adults having had their pictures taken while in the car. After checking out a blue coupe on Google everything fell right in place. No regrets.

I have always liked the 1st gen camaros, but I didn't care for any after that... until the 5th gen came out and as they started progressing into what they are today I really started to take notice... but I always blew it off, " I wouldnt fit into one of them"
I am 6 foot 4 I had an opportunity to get a 2014 SS as a rental car on a trip to Maui, so I jumped on it. Only live once right? and If I didnt have head room it would only be a week. Well I fell in love... I had to have one... One day during the trip a good friend of mine sent me a TXT asking how the trip was going, etc. I sent a pic of my rental car and half way joked that I needed to find one when I got home. well the next TXT I received was a picture of a red camaro that was sitting on his friends car lot.. over the next few days of the trip I worked out the details and when I got home I drove the 300 miles to where she was with a check in hand. The night before I dont think I had 30 min of sleep. A bit nervous never committing to buy a car long distance with only pictures... Needless to say the Grin hasnt left.. every time I fire her up. |

Spent roughly 8 months saving for a big down payment, we had thanksgiving break at work, and there was a red M6 LS3 SS in the town over from me with the cleanest carfax I've ever seen.
The car was very obviously babied, and the only thing it had done to it was basic maintenance during it's 20,000 miles. It was black Friday, took the car for a test drive, my salesman could tell I was babying it because it obviously wasn't my car yet. He told me to pull off on this back road coming up, he hopped in the seat, turned the TC off, and we ripped skids for probably 30 minutes after that. I instantly fell in love, he was drooling at the mouth after I told him about my down payment. I signed the paperwork that evening, and took the car home that night. Been the best decision I ever made. |

I saw the concept for the vert back years ago. It's been my screen saver ever since. My plan was pick up a vert 1 to 2 years old. It took me 5 to 6 years but finally started to look about 5 months ago. Saw the Dusk edition with the deep blue exterior and Mohave interior and I was hooked. Took me a few months but finally found it. SS version.
This is where it gets good.... I had a work trip to India scheduled...2 week trip. A couple of days before I was leaving I found the vert on line. Liked the pictures; called up and left a deposit. I re-arranged my return trip: Flew from Chennai India to Delhi - 2+ hours Delhi to Newark - 14+ hours Newark to Boston - 1+ hour bus trip from Boston to car dealer- 1 hour BOUGHT CAR! drive home to Philly - 7+ hours. 18 hours in the air 6 hours of lay overs and 1 of the coolest 7 hours drives I ever had!

I have wanted a Camaro since I was 13 and just never got one. Anyways I drove a 2008 Dodge Avenger 4 banger for the past 7/8 yrs. It was in sad sad sad shape. Will not buy another dodge. I take care of my cars but this one needed a transmission, had an oil leak, over 200k miles, and the valves tapped but there was no adjustment for the valves. It would cost me a ton more than it was worth to fix it. I heard on the radio that the dealership was offering 4000.00 min trade in... So I went. I received 4000 for my Dodge plus another 1000 cash back. I wanted the convertible but yeah... a little too pricey for me!!! So I got the next best one on the lot that was in my range. I am so happy i did it too. It has been a month...sometimes i look at my car and still cannot believe it is mine.

My 97 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 finally broke down on me and left me without a daily driver so I needed something ASAP. I had been driving Toyota trucks for 23 years and never intended to get rid of it... Thought they might bury me in it lol.
Always wanted a 5th gen Camaro and started searching the websites of local chevy dealers. Saw this ABM Camaro with the interior and options I wanted so got pre approved online. The salesman brought the car to me at my job and let me drive it back to the dealership and drove it home that afternoon. I absolutely love this car.

In my late teens most of the guys and one GF I knew, were driving late 60's Mustangs or Camaros. I told myself that one day I would have one or both. At that time I drove a '72 VW stick which was all I could afford.
Onward to 2004, a severe car accident (luckily my kids were not in the that suburban); the "totalled" substantial insurance funds finally got the '67 Mustang fastback 4 speed (summer car show driver to go with my hubz' '51 chopped Merc) GT350 tribute. Fast forward to fall of 2014, empty nested, saved $$ and time for a daily driver of my very own. Test drove a retro 2010 Mustang and it just did not have that feel. I had the Corvette C6 in my sights since 2005; however, still too expensive for a 10 year old vehicle, not to mention the possible maintenance cost issues that could come up. Onward to February 2015; my hubz found this 2010 Grey Metallic/matte black rally stripe SS on a local Toyota lot and said to come down quick because some other guy wanted to get it for his wife. This dealership offers a "Forever Warranty" (hopefully, I won't have to know what that could mean but my hubz is confident with it); . Took it for a spin and never looked back. My better half really came through this past Valentines day! Other than the stang and various other vintage vehicles I've driven in the past... this is the only "new" car that I find myself excited to jump into for a ride... |

Suppose I should stop lurking and start contributing, ha. Growing up my dad had a gray Iroc-Z28 and I remember him driving me around in it and always thought it would be the car he'd give me on my 16th birthday.
Well, parents got divorced, dad needed money, I ended up not needing a car. Cut to year 2012, I just graduated Army MP OSUT and bought a 1993 Z28 at 36k miles, it's my first car and I love it, but I hate driving it because I feel guilty driving an older car that's in such immaculate shape, I don't want to ruin it so I baby it. So now, on the tail end of my first deployment, I'm trying to sell my Z28 and like any good Specialist I plan to take a very large portion of the money I've saved up and sink it into a 2011-2013 2SS. A car that I intend to keep for a very....very long time. |

I just happen to go to dealer with my dad because he wanted another truck. I got bored and started walking around the lot and saw nothing that really caught my eye outside of the vets that I can't afford. Once I came inside the showroom I feel in love instantly with this 2015 2LT/RS! It had 4 miles on it so I asked a guy there to find one like it so I can test drive it. While it didn't have the 8 banger it was still way nicer than any car I ever owned! The only thing it was missing was nav(not a deal breaker). I've always wanted a car with paddle shifters ever since my college buddy had his in his 360 Modena. Me knowing that my Lincoln LS has over 180k miles on it I needed to have a second option. After looking at the numbers on it I had to take it home.
